\"killingjesus\"<\/a>Various sites, including Deadline<\/a> and Variety<\/a><\/i>, are reporting that veteran TV director Christopher Menaul has been tapped to oversee the upcoming adaptation of Bill O\u2019Reilly\u2019s Killing Jesus<\/a><\/i> for the National Geographic Channel. Ridley Scott is one of several producers attached to the project.<\/p>\n

Menaul has worked almost exclusively in television, so I am unfamiliar with his work<\/a> \u2014 though I do recall attending a press screening of Feast of July<\/i> back in the mid-\u201990s. In any case, he does not seem to have worked in the Bible-movie genre before.<\/p>\n

In March<\/a>, the adaptation, written by Law & Order<\/i> veteran Walon Green, was described as a four-hour miniseries. Now they\u2019re calling it a \u201cthree-hour telepic\u201d. Does that mean the whole thing will air on a single night?<\/p>\n

The plan right now is to shoot the film this fall and air it sometime next year.<\/p>\n

Other Bible-themed (or first-century-Judea-themed) TV productions currently in the works include A.D.<\/a><\/i> (NBC, premieres April 5), The Dovekeepers<\/a><\/i> (CBS), Nazareth<\/a><\/i> (Fox), The One<\/a><\/i> (Lifetime) and The Red Tent<\/a><\/i> (Lifetime).<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
