{"id":2148,"date":"2006-07-22T22:46:00","date_gmt":"2006-07-22T22:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2006\/07\/star-trek-xi-we-have-a-poster\/"},"modified":"2006-07-22T22:46:00","modified_gmt":"2006-07-22T22:46:00","slug":"star-trek-xi-we-have-a-poster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2006\/07\/star-trek-xi-we-have-a-poster.html","title":{"rendered":"Star Trek XI &#8212; we have a poster!"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p><span style=\"font-family: georgia\">\u201cWith this familiar imagery, the direction of the next movie is now officially open to speculation.\u201d  So says <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startrek.com\/startrek\/view\/news\/article\/19575.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">StarTrek.com<\/a> today, on the occasion of the release of the first official teaser poster for <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/04\/star-trek-xi-back-on-drawing-board.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Star Trek XI<\/a><\/i> \u2014 coming to a theatre near you sometime in 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/7991\/933\/1600\/startrekxi.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"cursor:pointer;cursor:hand\" src=\"https:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/7991\/933\/400\/startrekxi.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\"><\/a><br>No word yet on what the movie will actually be <i>about<\/i>, but it seems it will be set during or circa the <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/07\/star-trek-and-knights-of-round-table.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">original series<\/a> \u2014 which means this would be the first <i>Star Trek<\/i> movie that actually takes place during the era that got this franchise started.  Could be interesting to see how those cheesy 1960s designs look when filtered through 21st-century special effects and big-screen production values.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, the first six movies (1979-1991) took place very consciously at a point some years <i>after<\/i> that first series \u2014 with new ship designs and new uniforms, and characters worrying about getting old, etc.  And after that, the last four movies (1994-2002) were directly tied to the <i>Next Generation<\/i> (1987-1994), <i>Deep Space Nine<\/i> (1993-1999) and <i>Voyager<\/i> (1995-2001) series.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to that, the last TV series, <i>Enterprise<\/i> (2001-2005), was a bit of an anomaly \u2014 if anything, it was based on the movies, particularly <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/05\/star-trek-first-contact.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">First Contact<\/a><\/i>, but no movies were based on <i>it<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWith this familiar imagery, the direction of the next movie is now officially open to speculation.\u201d So says StarTrek.com today, on the occasion of the release of the first official teaser poster for Star Trek XI \u2014 coming to a theatre near you sometime in 2008.
