\"exodus-yahoo-4\"<\/a>Yesterday<\/a>, 20th Century Fox released a new featurette on the locations for Exodus: Gods and Kings<\/a><\/i>. Among other things, it contained one never-before-seen shot from the film, of Moses secretly visiting with Joshua\u2019s father Nun and some other \u201cHebrew scholars\u201d.<\/p>\n

Today, a sharp-eyed reader pointed out to me that there is an engraving behind Nun in this newly-revealed shot, and that it seems to be based on a coin that was minted by Jewish rebels<\/a> during the Bar Kokhba revolt \u2014 a war against the Romans that took place about 1,400 years after the events of this film. The engraving behind Nun even seems to include the letters that spell Bar Kokhba\u2019s first name, Shim\u2019on:

This would not be the first anachronism in this film that we\u2019ve known about.<\/p>\n

The trailer<\/a> has already made it abundantly clear that the Egyptians of this film will lead cavalry charges into battle, which the Egyptians of that era would not have done<\/a>, partly because their horses were not big enough to carry armoured men.<\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s the whole kerfuffle<\/a> over the ethnicity of the actors.<\/p>\n

One other issue has been nagging at the back of my mind. In the video interview below \u2014 which I originally posted two weeks ago<\/a> \u2014 Ben Kingsley says that his character, Nun, tells Moses \u201cthat he\u2019s Jewish . . . that he\u2019s not Egyptian\u201d:<\/p>\n
