\"song2014-album\"<\/a>The Identical<\/a><\/i>, a music-driven, Nashville-lensed, \u201cfaith-based\u201d film inspired by the life of Elvis Presley, didn\u2019t do too well at the box office when it opened a couple weeks ago. But that isn\u2019t stopping the makers of The Song<\/a><\/i>, a music-driven, Nashville-lensed, \u201cfaith-based\u201d film inspired by the life of King Solomon, from releasing their own film next week.<\/p>\n

The film opens September 26, and the full soundtrack \u2014 featuring songs by Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris and others \u2014 comes out four days later. Among other things, the album will include a new version of \u2018Turn! Turn! Turn!<\/a>\u2019, a Pete Seeger song that was based on a Bible passage<\/a> that has traditionally been ascribed to Solomon. This new version will be performed by Roger McGuinn \u2014 who, as lead singer of The Byrds, famously covered this song in 1965 \u2014 along with Harris and Skaggs.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, to whet your appetite, Noisetrade<\/a> has released four songs from the soundtrack album, all sung by the movie\u2019s stars Alan Powell and\/or Caitlin Nicol-Thomas, and one of the movie\u2019s websites has a preview of the album<\/a> with short clips from all but one of the tracks. (The one holdout is \u2018Turn! Turn! Turn!\u2019)<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s distributor also released this new trailer a few weeks ago:<\/p>\n
