The Surrogate<\/a><\/i> is turning into something of a reunion party for producer Ralph Winter<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last week, I mentioned that the pregnancy thriller \u2014 currently being developed by director Paul Verhoeven, and not to be confused with the upcoming Bruce Willis sci-fi flick Surrogates<\/a><\/i> \u2014 is based on a book by Kathryn Mackel, a Christian novelist and screenwriter who worked with Winter on the film versions of Left Behind<\/a><\/i> (2000) and Hangman\u2019s Curse<\/i> (2003).<\/p>\n

This week, Variety<\/a><\/i> and the Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i> revealed that Halle Berry, who co-starred in the X-Men<\/a><\/i> trilogy (2000-2006) produced by Winter, is \u201cin talks\u201d to play the wife who is so desperate for a child that she turns to a surrogate mother, only to discover afterwards that the woman carrying her baby is insane.<\/p>\n

Berry hasn\u2019t been seen on the big screen since Things We Lost in the Fire<\/i> (2007) came out nearly two years ago, so websites like Hitfix<\/a> have already begun to suggest that The Surrogate<\/i> could be her \u201ccomeback\u201d movie; it is already being perceived as a \u201ccomeback\u201d movie for Verhoeven, who hasn\u2019t directed a Hollywood feature since the poorly-received Hollow Man<\/i> (2000).<\/p>\n

But Berry has already shot another movie, according to the IMDb, called Frankie and Alice<\/a><\/i>, in which she will play \u201ca young woman with multiple personality disorder who struggles to remain her true self and not give in to her racist alter-personality.\u201d That film is currently in post-production and doesn\u2019t seem to have a release date yet.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
