Click <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/devils-miner-at-viff.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a> for my review and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/lookup?%5EDevil%27s+Miner,+The+(2005)\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a> for other reviews.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">2.<\/a> The <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/disney-and-pixar-jesusland-angle.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Disney-Pixar merger<\/a>, whereby the Disney corporation owns both companies but Pixar executives take charge of all the animated features in production, continues to have some interesting effects.  <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/mv\/news\/va\/20060328\/114356341900.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reuters<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/news\/sb\/2006-03-28#film1\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Studio Briefing<\/a> report that Disney\u2019s new management have pulled the plug on Elton John\u2019s <i>Gnomeo &amp; Juliet<\/i> and demanded \u201cradical surgery\u201d to <i>Meet the Robinsons<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">3.<\/a> <i><a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/mv\/news\/va\/20060328\/114355881000.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i> says Demetri Martin has sold a pitch to DreamWorks for a TV show called <i>Will<\/i>, which \u201ccenters on an ordinary guy who lives in a world where people\u2019s lives and destinies are being written by scribes in Heaven. The man wakes up one day to find that his heavenly writer has decided to no longer draft his life, and he must go about his day unscripted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">4.<\/a> Lily Tomlin talks to <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/magazine\/article\/0,9171,1177016,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Time<\/a><\/i> magazine in anticipation of next Tuesday\u2019s release of the \u201cSexist, Egotistical, Lying Hypocritical Bigot\u201d edition of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B000E6ESHQ\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">9 to 5<\/a><\/i> (1980) on DVD.  This is as good a time as any to quote <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.macleans.ca\/advansis\/?mod=for&amp;act=dis&amp;eid=13\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Scott Feschuk<\/a>\u2018s comment on movie-clip tribute-montage overkill at this year\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/03\/best-pictures-are-usually-best-edited.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Academy Awards<\/a>: \u201cThat said, the salute to \u2018bold\u2019 films through the ages provided some quality \u2013 and inadvertent \u2013 entertainment. Only in Hollywood could a tribute to courage segue from a scene of <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/01\/god-went-away-and-he-never-came-back.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hotel Rwanda<\/a>, a film about a genocide that killed some 800,000 people, to a clip of Dolly Parton threatening Dabney Coleman\u2019s genitalia in 9 to 5.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"5\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">5.<\/a> I caught the newest trailer for <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/da-vinci-code-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Da Vinci Code<\/a><\/i> this morning.  I can never see these trailers without tittering at the point where Ian McKellen gravely intones that revealing the alleged marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdalene \u2014 oops, that\u2019s a spoiler, isn\u2019t it? \u2014 would \u201cdevastate the very foundations of mankind.\u201d  Anyway, if I\u2019m not mistaken, the new trailer for <i>The Da Vinci Code<\/i> uses the same version of Clint Mansell\u2019s <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00005Q4CS\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Requiem for a Dream<\/a><\/i> (2000) theme that was orchestrated for the trailers for <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/inklings-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Two Towers<\/a><\/i> (2002) a few years back.  And meanwhile, in related news, <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/mv\/news\/va\/20060328\/114357325000.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reuters<\/a> has a story up on the \u201creligious publishing boom\u201d that is poised to take advantage of the movie and its attendant publicity.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"6\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">6.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/mv\/news\/va\/20060327\/114352671700.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reuters<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/mv\/news\/ap\/20060328\/114356616000.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Associated Press<\/a> report that <i>Ocean\u2019s Thirteen<\/i> is in the works.  Why, Lord, why?  Well, okay, money, that\u2019s why.  <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B000062XHI\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ocean\u2019s Eleven<\/a><\/i> (2001) was the biggest hit in the careers of all its co-stars, except for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=mattdamon.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Matt Damon<\/a>\u2018s small role in <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/04\/critiquing-private-ryan.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Saving Private Ryan<\/a><\/i> (1998) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=doncheadle.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Don Cheadle<\/a>\u2018s cameo in <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00003CY5Y\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Rush Hour 2<\/a><\/i> (2001) \u2014 and only <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=bradpitt.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Brad Pitt<\/a> has had a (marginally) bigger hit since, with <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/07\/newsbites-quickie-aslan-aristocrats.html#3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mr. &amp; Mrs. Smith<\/a><\/i> (2005).  But still, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0007P0XBO\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ocean\u2019s Twelve<\/a><\/i> (2004) was so <a href=\"http:\/\/article.gmane.org\/gmane.music.dadl.ot\/13377\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">stupid and self-indulgent<\/a>, I would be surprised if audiences were demanding yet another sequel.
