WB hopes to begin production late next year.<\/p>\n<p>Pic is being produced by Initial Entertainment Group\u2019s Graham King along with Depp\u2019s Infinitum Nihil banner and Plan B\u2019s Brad Pitt.<\/p>\n<p>When negotiations are complete, Weir \u2014 who last directed Russell Crowe in \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0001DI0FI\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World<\/a>\u201d \u2014 will take on a tale with the political and wartime tensions reminiscent of his early efforts like \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00004RFGO\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Year of Living Dangerously<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B000BDGW0I\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Gallipoli<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Protag is an Australian heroin addict who escapes a maximum-security prison and reinvents himself in India as a doctor in the slums of Bombay. His attempt to find medicine for his destitute patients leads him into counterfeiting, gunrunning and smuggling. . . .<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1117933770\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Second<\/a>, there is this adaptation of Barbara Hodgson\u2019s first book:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Jim Henson Co. has set <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0954693\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Yuri Zeltser<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0081060\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cary Bickley<\/a> to adapt Barbara Hodgson suspense novel \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0811808173\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Tattooed Map<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deal reunites the writers with company principal Lisa Henson, who produced with Janet Yang the Fox\/Regency pic \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B000068MBI\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">High Crimes<\/a>,\u201d which Zeltser and Bickley scripted. Henson Co. has so far put up its own coin to option the book and hire the writers, and Henson will produce the pic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is about a couple\u2019s relationship that is tested when they are overseas and a mysterious, tattooed map appears on the woman\u2019s body,\u201d said Zeltser. \u201cIt leads to a discovery of secrets from each other\u2019s past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bickley said the book\u2019s Morocco locale is being switched to India for the pic. . . .<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This particular story grabs my eye because I happened to interview Hodgson, a business partner of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0811845087\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Griffin &amp; Sabine<\/a><\/i> author Nick Bantock\u2019s, when <i>The Tattooed Map<\/i> first came out ten years ago.
