Hello to everyone who is discovering this blog via Tom Schaefer\u2019s column, which was published last Saturday in the Wichita Eagle<\/a><\/i> under the headline \u2018Your guide to getting the most out of movies\u2019. (It was also picked up off the Knight Ridder wire by the Holland Sentinel<\/a><\/i>, the Macon Telegraph<\/a><\/i> and perhaps other papers.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Schaefer\u2019s column begins:<\/p>\n

Grab a bag of popcorn and find a good seat. Thanksgiving weekend usually means a run on movies at your local theater.<\/p>\n

But what\u2019s worth seeing? And is there anything to learn \u2014 spiritually speaking \u2014 from Hollywood\u2019s latest offerings?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a muddled picture, but help is out there.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re trying to get a handle on movies new and old to generate a good discussion \u2014 and to see whether there\u2019s a bit of spiritual light on the silver screen \u2014 consider these eight Web sites.<\/p>\n

Use them for personal enlightenment or for lively discussions among family and friends.<\/p>\n

Now, dim the lights, and\u2026 shhh.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This blog is the fifth item listed (and CT Movies<\/a>, one of the sites I write for, is the fourth). Schaefer describes it thus:<\/p>\n

Filmchat is the blog of Peter Chattaway of Vancouver, British Columbia (\u201cfilm critic, journalist, religion junkie\u201d). He offers insights to all things film-related. He picks up on the latest Hollywood news (no, not the Paris Hilton type), staying abreast of what\u2019s coming up in the movie industry. A member of the Faith and Film Critics Circle, Chattaway is worth the work to read, though black background on the Web site makes for difficult reading.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hmmm, I thought this site had more of a blue-ish sheen. Interestingly, the Macon Telegraph<\/i>\u2018s version of this paragraph replaces everything but the first sentence with a quote from my review of Yours, Mine & Ours<\/a><\/i> (which actually appeared at CT Movies, and not on this blog, per se<\/i>). Anyway, suffice to say I am flattered to be associated with some of the other sites listed in this column, and I am a bit stunned \u2014 and perhaps even more<\/i> flattered? \u2014 that some of the sites I admire and emulate were passed over while my own humble blog got a mention.<\/p>\n
