Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit<\/a><\/i> won\u2019t be out here for another three weeks, but Studio Briefing<\/a> reports that it\u2019s already been released in Australia \u2014 and the critics and audiences love it. Now The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i> offers its own two bits:<\/span><\/p>\n

Aardman\u2019s first feature for DreamWorks, \u201cChicken Run\u201d in 2000, didn\u2019t completely manage the trick of maintaining the laughs and stylish glee of its shorts in a film nearly three times their length. The studio now hits its stride in a second outing, displaying the same technical flair, wonderful British wit and a sharper story sense. Since \u201cCurse\u201d is both a family movie and a date movie, DreamWorks should enjoy a long theatrical run followed by a lively ancillary afterlife.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Trivia note: The first DVD I ever owned was a copy of Chicken Run<\/a><\/i> (my review<\/a>) that my brother gave me for Christmas; I didn\u2019t get my actual DVD player<\/i> until about a week later. And as one who rather liked Chicken Run<\/i> \u2014 though not as much as the original Wallace & Gromit short films<\/a>, especially The Wrong Trousers<\/i> (1992) \u2014 I am excited to hear that this film may be even better.<\/p>\n
