But first, I want to humbly admit that I saw The Dukes of Hazzard<\/a><\/i> last night \u2014 for business and\/or research purposes only, I assure you \u2014 and as one who had never seen Jessica Simpson on the big or small screen before, I have just one question. Do people actually find her attractive<\/i>? Cuz she certainly didn\u2019t seem particularly sexy to me<\/i>, despite all the publicity and all the \u201cstory\u201d elements that seemed to hinge on this alleged sexiness. And as for her acting skills, they made me pine for the subtleties and nuances of Britney Spears\u2019s performance in Crossroads<\/a><\/i> (2002).<\/p>\n

2. The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a><\/i> reports that Catholic Archbishop George Pell<\/a> intends to invite Mel Gibson<\/a> to stage the crucifixion of Christ in his city, if Sydney is selected to host World Youth Day 2008. Apparently this intention is part of Sydney\u2019s \u201cpitch\u201d to be the host city, though it is not at all clear whether Gibson, who has ties to a Catholic group that rejects all the Popes since Vatican II, would want to take part in a papal ceremony such as this.<\/p>\n

3. IndieWIRE<\/a> reports that one of the films playing at the Sarajevo Film Festival<\/a> this month will be What Is a Man without a Mustache?<\/a><\/i>, directed by Hrvoje Hribar<\/a>, a Croatian, and described as a \u201cromantic comedy set in rough landscape . . . about a woman who falls in love with a local priest\u201d from a \u201cbankrupt parish\u201d.<\/p>\n

4. GetReligion.org<\/a> notes that the Entertainment Weekly<\/i> feature<\/a> on The Aristocrats<\/a><\/i> gives its punchline, or at least the last word, to Christian movie critic Michael Elliott<\/a>.
