Interesting reading.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">2.<\/a> One thing I didn\u2019t mention in my <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/05\/newsbites-christian-collusion-edition.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">previous post<\/a> on the film version of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/da-vinci-code-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Da Vinci Code<\/a><\/i> is that Lincoln Cathedral is apparently being used as a stand-in for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westminster-abbey.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Westminster Abbey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/mv\/news\/va\/20050531\/111759276300.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reuters<\/a> reports that the Abbey explicitly refused to allow filming there, because the book on which the film is based \u201cis theologically unsound and we cannot commend or endorse the contentious and wayward religious and historic suggestions made in the book \u2014 nor its views of Christianity and the New Testament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In its statement, the Abbey also said it would be equipping its marshals to provide <i>Da Vinci<\/i> tourists with clarifying information about the church: \u201cWe are already receiving regular, daily inquiries related to the book and we expect these to continue and even grow in the next couple of years, even with no effort on our own part, simply because the book is so popular.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and one other thing I didn\u2019t mention in my previous post, which also looked at <i>Da Vinci<\/i> director Ron Howard\u2019s upcoming film <i>Cinderella Man<\/i>, is that <i>Cinderella Man<\/i> features an actor named Nicholas Campbell as a reporter.  Why do I mention this?  Because Campbell is the star of a hot local TV show called <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0156442\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Da Vinci\u2019s Inquest<\/a><\/i>, and he plays a coroner named Da Vinci.<\/p>\n<p>Granted, as coincidences go, this one\u2019s a bit of a stretch, but hey, <i>I<\/i> like it!<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:  Bizarrely enough, it looks like the same Christian publicists who have been promoting <i>Cinderella Man<\/i> are already at work on <i>The Da Vinci Code<\/i>!  <a href=\"http:\/\/churchofthemasses.blogspot.com\/2005\/05\/if-we-cant-beat-da-vinci-can-we-join.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Barbara Nicolosi<\/a> has the scoop.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two recent items that caught my eye. 1.
