Will one movie be devoted to <i>The Hobbit<\/i> proper, followed by another movie that \u201cbridges\u201d the gap between the two stories? Or will <i>The Hobbit<\/i> itself be spread out over the two films? Jackson and <i>Hobbit<\/i> director Guillermo Del Toro have now announced their decision, and the answer is: the second option. Says Del Toro: \u201cWe\u2019ve decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/White_Council#Second_White_Council\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">White Council<\/a> and the comings and goings of Gandalf to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dol_Guldur\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dol Guldur<\/a>.\u201d Adds Jackson: \u201cWe decided it would be a mistake to try to cram everything into one movie . . . The essential brief was to do The Hobbit, and it allows us to make The Hobbit in a little more style, if you like, of the trilogy.\u201d \u2014 <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.empireonline.com\/news\/story.asp?NID=24610\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Empire<\/a><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">2.<\/a> Speaking of <i>The Lord of the Rings<\/i>, each film in that series was released to DVD three times: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0001VL0K2\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">once<\/a> in its shorter theatrical version, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000654ZK0\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">once<\/a> in its longer \u201cextended\u201d version, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000GTLR2A\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">once<\/a> in a format that included <i>both<\/i> versions. Now it is time for the trilogy to come out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000X9FLKM\/petertchatta\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">on Blu-Ray<\/a> \u2014 and apparently the series will go back to square one, with a shorter-version-only edition; the \u201cextended\u201d versions will not come out on Blu-Ray until closer to the <i>Hobbit<\/i> release date. \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.highdefdigest.com\/news\/show\/High-Def_Box_Sets\/High-Def_Disc_Packaging\/New_Line\/Warner\/Lord_of_the_Rings_Box_Art_Revealed,_Pre-Orders_Up\/2700\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">High-Def Digest<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedigitalbits.com\/mytwocentsa166.html#lotrpre\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Digital Bits<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">3.<\/a> 20th Century Fox has revealed that it will release three films in 3D in 2010. They have not yet said which films they have in mind, but one of their biggest movies that year will be <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/inklings-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Chronicles of Narnia:<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/voyage-of-dawn-treader-gets-rewrite.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Voyage of the Dawn Treader<\/a><\/i>, so some of the online speculation has pointed in that direction. \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/new\/ShoWest-Fox-Plans-More-3D-In-2010-Could-Narnia-Be-Next-12556.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">CinemaBlend.com<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.narniaweb.com\/news.asp?id=2136&amp;dl=22823160\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">NarniaWeb<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">4.<\/a> Rhys Ifans has joined the cast of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/harry-potter-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Harry Potter<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/harry-potter-seven-books-eight-movies.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">and the Deathly Hallows<\/a><\/i>. Meanwhile, producer David Heyman has confirmed that some of the actors who began this series as prepubescent children will look more grown up than they have ever looked before in the final film.
