Because the series\u2019 producers struck different production and distribution deals for different films in that series, part of the series is actually already on DVD \u2014 Trimark released a <\/span>boxed set<\/a> a few years ago that includes Genesis: Creation and the Flood<\/a><\/i>, <\/span>Solomon<\/a><\/i>, <\/span>Jeremiah<\/a><\/i> and <\/span>Esther<\/a><\/i> (my review<\/a>), and individual DVDs are also available for <\/span>Jesus<\/a><\/i> (<\/span>my review<\/a>), <\/span>Paul the Apostle<\/a><\/i> (my review<\/a>) and <\/span>The Apocalypse<\/a><\/i> (<\/span>my review<\/a>).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But the best entries in this series were among the six films distributed by Warner Home Video \u2014 and after years of languishing on VHS, these films are finally being released on DVD. Amazon.com has <\/span>Abraham<\/a><\/i>, <\/span>Jacob<\/a><\/i>, <\/span>Joseph<\/a><\/i> and <\/span>Moses<\/a><\/i> all slated for a June 7 release; I am especially eager to save shelf space and replace my bulky two-tape sets with digital copies of the latter two, which both co-star Ben Kingsley and are among the better dramatic interpretations of these familiar Old Testament stories that I have seen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alas, Amazon.com has no listings for <\/span>Samson and Delilah<\/i> or <\/span>David<\/i>, at least not yet \u2014 not that these were particularly great films, but still, y\u2019know, I\u2019m a completist.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
