Tim Reckart \u2014 who was nominated for an Oscar two years ago for his short film Head Over Heels<\/i>, about a husband and wife who have grown so far apart that one of them now lives on the floor while the other one lives on the ceiling \u2014 has been tapped to direct The Lamb<\/a><\/i> for Sony Pictures Animation, it was reported today by Variety<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n

The official press release<\/a> says only that The Lamb<\/i> is an \u201cinspirational story of a young lamb who will change the world,\u201d but when the film was first announced seven months ago<\/a>, it was described as \u201can inspiring, respectful and entertaining take on the famous Nativity story\u201d that would feature \u201can all-animal cast.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the film\u2019s producers is DeVon Franklin, a Christian and former Sony executive who was instrumental in developing the film version of Heaven is for Real<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n

Reckart himself is a Catholic, according to a profile of him that appeared in World<\/i> magazine<\/a> two years ago. He said at the time that \u201chis faith informs the ideals in his films, but he mainly tries to live his faith by being an excellent filmmaker.\u201d<\/p>\n

Head Over Heels<\/i> was stop-motion, but The Lamb<\/i> will be computer-animated.<\/p>\n
