3.<\/a> Director Alexander Payne and actor Paul Giamatti, who last worked together on the Oscar-nominated Sideways<\/i> (2004), are teaming up again for Downsizing<\/i>, a \u201csocial satire\u201d about \u201ca man low on money who decides he can have a much nicer life if he undergoes a process to shrink himself.\u201d The film will also star Reese Witherspoon, who worked with Payne on Election<\/a><\/i> (1999). \u2014 Variety<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n

5.<\/a> Casting is already under way for the live-action Star Wars<\/a><\/i> TV series<\/a> that will take place between the two big-screen trilogies. 6.<\/a> Morena Baccarin, of Firefly<\/a><\/i> and Stargate<\/i> fame, will play the leader of the alien invasion in the remake of V<\/a><\/i>. \u2014 Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n

7.<\/a> Fox is developing Last Man<\/i>, a \u201cfuturistic action film\u201d about \u201ca group of young, inexperienced American soldiers\u201d who battle an alien race on a distant planet. Um, why do the soldiers have to be American? \u2014 Variety<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n

8.<\/a> Former New Line executive Mark Ordesky is one of the producers now attached to a \u201cscience fiction film\u201d adaptation of Chariots of the Gods<\/a><\/i>, the Erich von D\u00e4niken book which argued that the ancient world was visited \u2014 and to some degree shaped \u2014 by extra-terrestrials. The book was previously turned into a documentary<\/a> in 1970, and its basic premise was also reflected in last year\u2019s Indiana Jones<\/a> and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull<\/a><\/i>. \u2014 Variety<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n
