Only three other films \u2014 <i>Titanic<\/i> (1997), <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/inklings-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Lord of the Rings:<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/05\/zinn-and-chomsky-do-tolkien.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Return of the King<\/a><\/i> (2003) and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/11\/newsbites-myth-and-fantasy-edition.html#3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Pirates of the Caribbean:<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/07\/morality-or-not-of-pirates-and-scott.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dead Man\u2019s Chest<\/a><\/i> (2006) \u2014 have passed this milestone. Interestingly, <i>The Dark Knight<\/i> is the only film in the all-time Top 20 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/alltime\/world\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">worldwide<\/a> that has made more money in North America than it has overseas. \u2014 <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1118000424.html?categoryid=13&amp;cs=1&amp;nid=2562\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Variety<\/a><\/i>, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/hr\/content_display\/news\/e3i6c21c5456af55219adbb2b1aa23563d8\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">2.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/newsbites-comics-and-fantasy-edition.html#2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mickey Rourke<\/a> recently suggested that he might not be co-starring in <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/newsbites-science-fiction-edition.html#8\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Iron Man 2<\/a><\/i> after all, though the studio apparently still wants him for the film. This follows <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/newsbites-comics-and-sequels-edition.html#2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">earlier reports<\/a> that Emily Blunt might not be able to co-star in the film due to scheduling conflicts with another movie, and that \u201can economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world\u201d might prevent Samuel L. Jackson from reprising his role as Nick Fury. Of course, <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/newsbites-superheroes-etc-edition.html#3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Terrence Howard<\/a> has already been replaced by Don Cheadle in the part of Jim Rhodes. Let\u2019s hope Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow stick around, at least. \u2014 <i><a href=\"http:\/\/nymag.com\/daily\/entertainment\/2009\/02\/vulture_exclusive_mickey_rourk.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">New York Magazine<\/a><\/i>, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/hollywoodinsider.ew.com\/2009\/02\/mickey-rourke-a.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">3.<\/a> Remember that <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/newsbites-heroes-and-comics-edition.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">recent rumour<\/a> about the Wachowski brothers being asked to reboot the <i>Superman<\/i> series? It\u2019s been debunked. And the same website that debunked it is now reporting that a password-protected page at the Legendary Pictures website indicates the next Superman movie will be a sequel to <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/12\/newsbites-comics-and-sequels-edition.html#3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Superman Returns<\/a><\/i> (2006) called <i>Superman Unleashed<\/i>. \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slashfilm.com\/2009\/02\/18\/rumor-killer-the-wachowski-brothers-not-offered-superman-reboot\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">SlashFilm<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slashfilm.com\/2009\/02\/20\/exclusive-superman-returns-sequel-to-be-titled-superman-unleashed\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">x2<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">4.<\/a> There will be not one, not two, but <i>three<\/i> versions of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/newsbites-comics-and-cartoons-edition.html#2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Watchmen<\/a><\/i>: the 156-minute version coming to theatres in two weeks, a 190-minute \u201cdirector\u2019s cut\u201d on DVD, and an even longer 205-minute \u201cultimate edition\u201d on DVD that will include footage from the story-within-the-story <i>Tales of the Black Freighter<\/i>.
