Sony Pictures Entertainment set release dates for 16 of their upcoming films today, and one of them happens to be The Lamb<\/a><\/i>, an animated take on the Nativity told from the point of view of the animals. It is due to come out on December 8, 2017.<\/p>\n

As things currently stand<\/a>, that\u2019s two weeks after<\/i> a currently untitled Pixar film is due to come out, and two weeks before<\/i> DreamWorks releases The Croods 2<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The Lamb<\/i>, which has been in development for about a year<\/a>, is being produced by Sony Pictures Animation and DeVon Franklin \u2014 a former Sony executive who also happens to be a preacher \u2014 and it is being directed by Tim Reckart<\/a>, a Catholic whose credits include the Oscar-nominated stop-motion short film Head Over Heels<\/i>.<\/p>\n

There is no word yet regarding whose voices might be cast in the film.<\/p>\n

Sony has had a fair bit of success with \u201cfaith-based\u201d films in recent years, most notably with Heaven Is for Real<\/a><\/i>. Their upcoming projects include the biblical drama Risen<\/a><\/i>, which concerns a Roman soldier\u2019s investigation into reports of the Resurrection.
