<\/a><\/p>\nIt\u2019s New Testament time at the movie theatre these days, but on television the focus is decidedly Old<\/i> Testament. And with only two weeks to go until the premiere of Of Kings and Prophets<\/a><\/i>, we\u2019re starting to see more stories and promos about the series.<\/p>\n Of Kings and Prophets<\/i> is big news in South Africa, which is where the series is being shot, and where the producers have built one of the country\u2019s biggest TV sets ever. Ten days ago<\/a>, I linked to a couple of stories on the role the series is playing within that country\u2019s film industry, and now there\u2019s this, via Business Day Live<\/a>:<\/p>\n The series is being filmed at two Western Cape locations \u2014 interior scenes on sets built in an old brandy warehouse in Stellenbosch, and the city of Gibeah \u2014 the Israelites\u2019 pre-Jerusalem capital \u2014 on the Durbanville hillside.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s one of the biggest productions ever for SA,\u201d says production designer Johnny Breedt, a South African who worked on the film adaptation of Nelson Mandela\u2019s Long Walk to Freedom. \u201cIt\u2019s by far one of the biggest sets built in SA, and it\u2019s all built by South Africans,\u201d he says of Gibeah.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The story also notes that costume supervisor Stephen O\u2019Rawe used to work on Game of Thrones<\/i>, and it quotes a colleague to the effect that \u201che\u2019s never going back.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the network has released a new 30-second TV spot \u2026<\/p>\n Witness the rise of a hero. #OfKingsAndProphets<\/a> https:\/\/t.co\/ER1GeGgZc1<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Of Kings & Prophets (@KingsProphets) February 20, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
