Uh-oh. Deadline<\/a> is reporting that the new version of Ben-Hur<\/a><\/i> \u2014 which was once going to come out February 26 \u2014 has been bumped from its August 12 release date.<\/p>\n

The film will now open a week later, on August 19.<\/p>\n

This is worrying if Ben-Hur<\/i> is meant to be any sort of wide release, as the last weeks of summer are generally regarded as something of a dead zone<\/a> for mainstream films.<\/p>\n

A number of films have<\/i> done very well in the first<\/i> two weeks of August<\/a> in recent years, but it has proved a lot harder to find an audience in the second<\/i> half of the month.<\/p>\n
