The timing is a little odd \u2014 Risen<\/a><\/i> is near the end of its two-month theatrical run, and it won\u2019t be coming out on video<\/a> for another month or so \u2014 but today Christianity Today<\/a><\/i> posted an interview with the film\u2019s composer Roque Ba\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Among other things, Ba\u00f1os discusses how his score blends the sounds of the period with \u201cthriller\u201d elements before evolving into something more \u201cbiblical\u201d:<\/p>\n

My main goal in this score was to develop the music while the main character changes. The music in each scene reinforces what he feels from every discovery he finds. The main character is evolving and changing, so the music goes with him until he finds what is supposed to be the truth. And then he is really in shock, and from there the music is no longer evolving. It\u2019s like an opening\u2014a whole new world to him. That\u2019s where the music opens up and becomes more biblical, and that\u2019s when we see the miracle happen in front of his eyes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
