If the <a href=\"http:\/\/deadline.com\/2016\/05\/angry-birds-neighbors-2-the-nice-guys-weekend-box-office-1201760146\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">lower estimate<\/a> is correct, then <i>Angry Birds<\/i> would also open behind <i>Dinosaur<\/i> ($38.9 million) and <i>Over the Hedge<\/i> ($38.5 million).<\/p>\n<p><i>The Angry Birds Movie<\/i> also has the third-best opening of any animated film released by Sony, behind the two <i>Hotel Transylvania<\/i> movies, though it was not produced by Sony Pictures Animation, <i>per se<\/i>. Instead, it was animated by Vancouver-based Sony Pictures Imageworks, which is a different branch of the Sony empire.<\/p>\n<p><i>Angry Birds<\/i> has made another $112 million overseas since opening in a couple dozen foreign territories last week. Its global total currently stands at $151 million.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Captain America: Civil War<\/b><\/i> got bumped down to second place in its third week in North American theatres, but Marvel fans still had something to celebrate, as it became the first movie this year to gross over a billion dollars worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The film earned $33.1 million in North America and raised its cume to $347.4 million: the second-best domestic gross of the year, behind <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/deadpool\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Deadpool<\/a><\/i>\u2019s $362.7 million. The film has earned another $706.1 million overseas for $1,053.5 million globally.<\/p>\n<p><i>Captain America<\/i> now ranks 19th on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/alltime\/world\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">all-time worldwide chart<\/a>. It is currently the fifth-highest-grossing superhero movie worldwide, behind three other films that co-star Iron Man (<i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/iron-man-3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Iron Man 3<\/a><\/i> and the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/avenger-age-of-ultron\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Avengers<\/a><\/i> films) and <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/dark-knight-rises\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">The Dark Knight Rises<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising<\/b><\/i> opened in third place with $21.8 million, which is less than half of the $49 million that the original <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/neighbors-2014\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Neighbors<\/a><\/i> opened to in 2014. The film does, however, have one of the top six or seven non-animated, non-cameo openings for co-stars <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=sethrogen.htm&amp;sort=opengross&amp;order=DESC&amp;p=.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Seth Rogen<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=zacefron.htm&amp;sort=opengross&amp;order=DESC&amp;p=.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Zac Efron<\/a> and newcomer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=chloemoretz.htm&amp;sort=opengross&amp;order=DESC&amp;p=.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chloe Grace Moretz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>The Nice Guys<\/b><\/i>, a slapstick noir starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling as a couple of detectives in 1970s Los Angeles, opened in fourth place with $11.3 million.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>X-Men: Apocalypse<\/b><\/i> won\u2019t open in North America until next week, but it had a solid opening of $103.3 million overseas this week \u2014 slightly better than <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/x-men-days-of-future-past\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">X-Men: Days of Future Past<\/a><\/i>\u2019s foreign debut in 2014, after <a href=\"http:\/\/deadline.com\/2016\/05\/x-men-apocalypse-captain-america-angry-birds-weekend-results-international-box-office-1201760967\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">exchange rates<\/a> are taken into account.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in other box-office news\u2026<\/p>\n<p><i><b>The Jungle Book<\/b><\/i> grossed $11 million and ranked fifth in its sixth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $327.5 million. The film has earned another $530.2 million overseas for a global total of $857.7 million.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Jungle Book<\/i> had already passed <i>Iron Man 2<\/i> to become the top-grossing film <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Director&amp;id=jonfavreau.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">directed by Jon Favreau<\/a> overseas and worldwide, and as of this week, it has passed the original <i>Iron Man<\/i> to become his top-grossing film in North America, too.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Zootopia<\/b><\/i> grossed $1.7 million and ranked eighth in its twelfth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $334.4 million. The film has earned another $647.4 million overseas for a global total of $981.8 million. (Will it reach a billion, too?)<\/p>\n<p>There were no estimates for <i><b>Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice<\/b><\/i> this week.<\/p>\n<p>Now for a bit of extra data on <i>Zootopia<\/i>\u2019s
