In 2006<\/a>, and again in 2007<\/a>, I kept track of all the G- and PG-rated films that cracked the weekly top ten lists, to see how many of them were aimed primarily at families or children, and how many of them were basically for grown-ups.<\/span><\/p>\n

Four months ago<\/a>, I posted a list of all the G- and PG-rated films that had been released so far this<\/i> year. Now, with the year basically over, it\u2019s time to update the list.<\/p>\n

The G- and PG-rated films that have cracked the weekly top ten lists so far break down into the following categories (with the ones that were #1 at the box office for at least one week in bold):<\/p>\n

Family films (for children, tweens, or religious audiences):<\/p>\n

  9. Kung Fu Panda<\/a><\/i><\/b><\/li>\n
  10. WALL\u00b7E<\/a><\/i><\/b> (G)<\/li>\n

    Documentary with an educational angle:<\/p>\n

    1. Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Inspirational true-story sports movies that either are<\/i>, or look like they could<\/i> have been, set in the \u201960s or \u201970s:<\/p>\n

      1. The Longshots<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n
      2. The Express<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Films for grown-ups that just happened to be rated G or PG:<\/p>\n

        1. Penelope<\/i><\/li>\n
        2. Meet Dave<\/a><\/i><\/li>\n
        3. Marley & Me<\/a><\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n

          As you can see, the bulk of the new films that got the G or PG rating in the United States have been \u201cfamily\u201d movies, just like before.<\/span><\/p>\n
