Seems like I can\u2019t get away from movies about the holy family right now.<\/p>\n
The Young Messiah<\/a><\/i> came out on DVD this week. A few days ago I reviewed The Holy Family<\/a><\/i>. I\u2019ve been thinking I should take a look at Joseph of Nazareth<\/i>, which was directed by the same person as The Holy Family<\/i>. (I picked it up from a bargain bin years ago but have never unwrapped it.) And then, yesterday, I got a review copy of Joseph & Mary<\/a><\/i>, the upcoming DVD starring Kevin Sorbo as Joseph himself.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ll be reviewing the film closer to its July 5 release date. In the meantime, the press release that came with the DVD included a link to the following trailer:<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\nInterestingly, The Young Messiah<\/i> isn\u2019t the only recent film that is echoed here. There is also a scene of someone dangling off a cliff \u00e0 la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/last-days-in-the-desert\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Last Days in the Desert<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2016\/06\/vlcsnap-2016-06-18-09h28m13s190.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-47968\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2016\/06\/vlcsnap-2016-06-18-09h28m13s190.png\" alt=\"vlcsnap-2016-06-18-09h28m13s190\" width=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-47968\"><\/a><\/p>\nThere is also a curious insistence on shepherd imagery here.
