Today we have clips from two \u2014 not one, but two! \u2014 upcoming sci-fi franchise films.<\/p>\n
First, we have the moment in Star Trek Beyond<\/a><\/i> (opening next week) when Captain Kirk realizes that the Enterprise<\/i> is about to be attacked for the last time ever: <\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/p>\nAnd second, we have some behind-the-scenes footage from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/star-wars-rogue-one\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Rogue One: A Star Wars Story<\/a><\/i> (opening December 16) that was unveiled at a convention in London today:<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Celebration Reel\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HUb_zpdyDpU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\nNote how the Star Wars<\/i> franchise seems to be getting its own Rocket Raccoon:<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2016\/07\/starwars-rogueone-raccoon.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-49558\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/227\/2016\/07\/starwars-rogueone-raccoon-1024x426.png\" alt=\"starwars-rogueone-raccoon\" width=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-49558\"><\/a><\/p>\nIncidentally, it occurs to me that Star Trek Beyond<\/i> director Justin Lin, born in 1973, is the first Star Trek<\/i> movie director who was born after the TV series premiered in 1966 \u2014 though he was born six years before the first Star Trek movie<\/i> came out. <\/p>\nStar Wars<\/i> hasn\u2019t quite got to the point where its directors are younger than the franchise yet, but Rogue One<\/i> director Gareth Edwards was born in 1975, just two years before the first film came out in 1977. (The youngest director attached to the franchise so far is Episode IX<\/i>\u2019s Colin Trevorrow, who was born in 1976.) <\/p>\nCheck out earlier Star Trek Beyond<\/i> trailers and other videos
