A Madea Halloween<\/b><\/i> led the way with an estimated $27.6 million <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/weekend\/chart\/?view=&amp;yr=2016&amp;wknd=43&amp;p=.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">between Thursday and Sunday nights<\/a>. That\u2019s the fourth-best opening ever for a film <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Director&amp;id=tylerperry.htm&amp;sort=opengross&amp;order=DESC&amp;p=.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">directed by Tyler Perry<\/a>, and the best for any of his films since 2010.<\/p>\n<p>At the scarier end of the Halloween season, the horror prequel <i><b>Ouija: Origin of Evil<\/b><\/i> grossed $14.1 million and landed in third place, which was a small step back from the $19.9 million and first-place rank that the original <i>Ouija<\/i> opened to in 2014. <\/p>\n<p>Coming between those two films, <i><b>Jack Reacher: Never Go Back<\/b><\/i> landed in second place with $23 million, which may be one of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=tomcruise.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Tom Cruise<\/a>\u2019s softer openings but is noticeably better than the $15.2 million that the first <i>Jack Reacher<\/i> opened to in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The sequel, which was produced for only $60 million (for comparison\u2019s sake, the last four <i>Mission: Impossible<\/i> movies have all cost between $125 million and $150 million), was also <a href=\"http:\/\/deadline.com\/2016\/10\/jack-reacher-never-go-back-tom-cruise-mechanic-resurrection-china-ouija-girl-on-the-train-trolls-inferno-overseas-weekend-results-international-box-office-1201841236\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">#1 overseas<\/a> this week with $31 million in foreign ticket sales.<\/p>\n<p>There was one other wide release this week \u2014 the spy comedy <i><b>Keeping Up with the Joneses<\/b><\/i> \u2014 but it landed in seventh place with only $5.6 million, which is one of the lowest openings ever for a comedy starring <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=zachgalifianakis.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Zach Galifianakis<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/people\/chart\/?view=Actor&amp;id=islafisher.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Isla Fisher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in other box-office news\u2026<\/p>\n<p><i><b>The Accountant<\/b><\/i> earned $14 million and ranked fourth in its second week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $47.9 million. The film has earned another $10.2 million overseas for a global total of $58.1 million.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>The Girl on the Train<\/b><\/i> earned $7.3 million and ranked fifth in its third week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $58.9 million. The film has earned another $45.1 million overseas for a global total of $104 million.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Miss Peregrine\u2019s Home for Peculiar Children<\/b><\/i> earned $6 million and ranked sixth in its fourth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $74.4 million. The film has earned another $150 million overseas for a global total of $224.5 million.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Kevin Hart: What Now?<\/b><\/i> earned $4.1 million and ranked eighth in its second week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $18.9 million. The film does not appear to have been released overseas yet.<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Storks<\/b><\/i> earned $4.1 million and ranked ninth in its fifth week, thereby raising its domestic total to $64.7 million. The film has earned another $83.1 million overseas for a global total of $147.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>And <i><b>Deepwater Horizon<\/b><\/i> earned $3.6 million and ranked tenth in its fourth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $55.3 million. The film has earned another $36.9 million overseas for a global total of $92.2 million.<\/p>\n<p>Now for a bit of extra data on the year\u2019s top-grossing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/genres\/chart\/?id=animation.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">animated films<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>In North America, <i>The Secret
