(<i>Kong: Skull Island<\/i> and Gareth Edwards\u2019 <i>Godzilla<\/i> take place in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/showdowns\/chart\/?view=weekend&amp;id=konggod.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">the same cinematic universe<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <i><b>The Shack<\/b><\/i> landed in fourth place with $10.1 million, which represented a drop of only 37.9% since the film\u2019s opening <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2017\/03\/box-office-shack-one-biggest-openings-ever-faith-based-film.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That is comparable to the second-week drops for other popular \u201cfaith-based\u201d films such as <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/resurrection-aiello\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Risen<\/a><\/i> (42.3%), <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/passion-of-the-christ\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">The Passion of the Christ<\/a><\/i> (36.5%), <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/heaven-is-for-real\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Heaven Is for Real<\/a><\/i> (36.3%) and <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/miracles-from-heaven\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Miracles from Heaven<\/a><\/i> (34.6%), and it is considerably better than the second-week drops for other successful films like, say, <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/son-of-god\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Son of God<\/a><\/i> (59.5%).<\/p>\n<p><i>The Shack<\/i> had the fourth-best opening of any \u201cfaith-based\u201d film last week, and this week it had the fourth-best second weekend as well:<\/p>\n<ul The film does not appear to have been released overseas yet.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>The Lego Batman Movie<\/i><\/b> earned $7.8 million and ranked fifth in its fifth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $159 million. The film has earned another $116.5 million overseas, for a global total of $275.5 million.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Before I Fall<\/i><\/b> earned $3.1 million and ranked sixth in its second week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $9 million. The film does not appear to have had a significant release overseas yet.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Hidden Figures<\/i><\/b> earned $2.8 million and ranked seventh in its twelfth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $162.9 million. The film has earned another $43.2 million overseas, for a global total of $206.1 million.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>John Wick: Chapter 2<\/i><\/b> earned $2.7 million and ranked eighth in its fifth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $87.4 million. The film has earned another $65.6 million overseas, for a global total of $153 million.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>La La Land<\/i><\/b> earned $1.8 million and ranked ninth in its fourteenth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $148.4 million. The film has earned another $268.4 million overseas, for a global total of $416.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>And <b><i>Fifty Shades Darker<\/i><\/b> earned $1.6 million and ranked tenth in its fifth week, thereby raising its domestic cume to $112.9 million.
