That is the tenth-best opening for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/franchises\/chart\/?view=main&amp;id=dwanimation.htm&amp;sort=opengross&amp;order=DESC&amp;p=.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">DreamWorks animated film<\/a>, and the fourth-best for one of their non-sequels (behind <i>Kung Fu Panda<\/i>, <i>Monsters Vs Aliens<\/i> and <i>Home<\/i>, only one of which generated any sequels in its own right).<\/p>\n<p>Second place went to <i><b>Beauty and the Beast<\/b><\/i>, which grossed $47.5 million in its third week, while third place went to <i><b>Ghost in the Shell<\/b><\/i>, a controversial live-action spin on the popular anime franchise that opened with only $19 million.<\/p>\n<p><i>Beauty and the Beast<\/i> has earned $395.5 million in North America and another $480.8 million overseas, for a combined worldwide total of $876.3 million. The film currently ranks 26th on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/alltime\/domestic.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">all-time domestic chart<\/a> and 48th <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/alltime\/world\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">globally<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One other film opened this week: <i><b>The Zookeeper\u2019s Wife<\/b><\/i>, starring Jessica Chastain as a Polish woman who saved hundreds of Jews from the Nazis, earned $3.3 million from 541 theatres and had the third-best per-screen average in the top ten ($6,191 per screen, behind only <i>The Boss Baby<\/i> and <i>Beauty and the Beast<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <i><b>The Shack<\/b><\/i> landed in 11th place with $2.2 million in its fifth week.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Shack<\/i> had the fourth-best <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2017\/03\/box-office-shack-one-biggest-openings-ever-faith-based-film.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">first<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2017\/03\/box-office-kong-king-shack-healthy-second-week-drop.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">second weeks<\/a>, the sixth-best <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2017\/03\/box-office-beauty-beast-sixth-best-opening-time-shack-cracks-faith-based-top-10.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">third week<\/a> and the seventh-best <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2017\/03\/box-office-three-new-wide-releases-make-less-combined-beauty-beast-second-week.html\" class=\"
