Just a few things that came up last night and this morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/a> Babylon 5<\/a><\/i> creator J. Michael Straczynski<\/a> has been tapped to write the script for a remake of Forbidden Planet<\/i> (1956). So we\u2019ve got this and the upcoming remake<\/a> of The Day the Earth Stood Still<\/a><\/i> (1951). Are there any other remakes of 1950s robots-and-spaceships movies in the works? \u2014 Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n

2.<\/a> Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire has been tapped to write Spider-Man 4<\/a><\/i>. \u2014 Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n

3.<\/a> Sony may step in and co-produce the Tintin<\/a><\/i> movies with Paramount, now that Universal has backed out<\/a> for financial reasons. Steven Spielberg, who is producing the films with Peter Jackson<\/a>, apparently still hopes to start shooting the first film \u201cas early as this year\u201d, for release in 2010. However, because the franchise has been in limbo these last few weeks, Thomas Sangster<\/a> will no longer be playing the lead role. \u2014 New York Times<\/a><\/i>, Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i>, Variety<\/a><\/i>, Anne Thompson<\/a><\/p>\n

4.<\/a> The \u201c definitive edition<\/a>\u201d of The Passion of the Christ<\/a><\/i> (2004) is coming to Blu-Ray in February. I wonder if this new edition will fix that typo<\/a>. \u2014 High-Def Digest<\/a><\/p>\n

5.<\/a> Roger Ebert has published a new article on The Last Temptation of Christ<\/a><\/i> (1988), excerpted from his new book Scorsese by Ebert<\/a><\/i>. In it, he cites an influential essay on the film by my colleague Steven D. Greydanus<\/a>, which I and one other critic also cited in our essays for the book Scandalizing Jesus?<\/a><\/i>. \u2014 Roger Ebert<\/a><\/p>\n
