It will be interesting to see whether the film casts its sympathies to one side of that conflict, or manages to sympathize on some level with Normans and Saxons alike. \u2014 <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1117994690.html?categoryid=13&amp;cs=1&amp;nid=2562\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Variety<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">2.<\/a> Plans are afoot for a remake of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/11\/muslim-terrorists-kill-muslim-movie.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Message<\/a><\/i> (1976), the late Moustapha Akkad\u2019s reverent biopic of the Muslim prophet Mohammed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe have only the utmost respect for Akkad\u2019s work but technology in cinema has advanced since the 1970s and this latest project will employ modern film techniques in its renewal of the first film\u2019s core messages,\u201d producer Oscar Zoghbi, who worked on the original, said in a statement. . . .<\/p>\n<p>In the original \u201cMessage,\u201d the Prophet and his companions were heard speaking off-camera but never directly shown, in accordance with Muslim conventions forbidding their visual depiction.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The new film will be called <i>The Messenger of Peace<\/i>. No word yet on how it will depict Mohammed\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muhammad#Beginnings_of_armed_conflict\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">military exploits<\/a>. \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/mv\/news\/va\/20081027\/122514403700.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reuters<\/a>, <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1117994916.html?categoryid=13&amp;cs=1&amp;nid=2566\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Variety<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">3.<\/a> The producers of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/06\/newsbites-treader-angels-fugitive-zohan.html#6\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Angels &amp; Demons<\/a><\/i>, the sequel or prequel to <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/da-vinci-code-article-archive.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Da Vinci Code<\/a><\/i> (2006), have released some new photos from that film. The new film revolves around the Vatican and Renaissance art, and the producers promise it will have more action than the earlier film did. \u2014 <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/life\/movies\/news\/2008-10-27-angels-demons_N.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">USA Today<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">4.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/07\/bc-christian-news-july-2008.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">M. Night Shyamalan<\/a> has co-written a supernatural thriller called <i>Devil<\/i>, which will be directed and executive-produced by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0235719\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">John<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1803105\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Andrew Dowdle<\/a>. It will be the first film Shyamalan has written but not directed since <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/08\/rip-bruno-kirby-1949-2006.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Stuart Little<\/a><\/i> (1999). \u2014 <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/hr\/content_display\/film\/news\/e3ic75447be81df667c0d0309826c4f5adf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"5\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">5.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0576509\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Alan Mehrez<\/a>, a producer who has specialized in sequels to Jean-Claude Van Damme movies, now plans to shoot a live-action movie about <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aladdin\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Aladdin<\/a> in Egypt, starting in March.
