But still there is no sign of the movie itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Now, reports the <i><a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/entertainmentnewsbuzz\/2010\/03\/kanbar-entertainment-says-it-was-hoodwinked-by-weinstein-co-.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/i>, the production company behind <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2010\/01\/hoodwinked-comings-and-goings.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil<\/a><\/i> and its <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/newsbites-knife-hoodwinked-ratatouille.html#2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">2005 predecessor<\/a> has gone to court to force the distributor \u201cto begin arbitration proceedings to resolve disputes between the two companies over the production and release of\u201d the animated sequel.<\/p>\n<p><i>Hoodwinked Too!<\/i>, which has had a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ropeofsilicon.com\/article\/latest-mpaa-ratings-bulletin-no-2078\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">PG rating<\/a> since July of last year (and is thus presumably more-or-less complete), was originally slated to come out January 15, but its release was delayed indefinitely in December, and the film was conspicuously absent from the list of <a href=\"http:\/\/theplaylist.blogspot.com\/2010\/03\/weinstein-company-sets-dec-31-release.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">upcoming films<\/a> released by the Weinstein Company just last week.<\/p>\n<p>However, the film <i>was<\/i> reportedly included in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadline.com\/2010\/02\/weinsteins-seal-sony-worldwide-dvd-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">DVD distribution deal<\/a> that the Weinsteins signed with Sony last month.<\/p>\n<p>Kanbar Entertainment, the company that <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/05\/cory-edwards-interviews-up.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">got the first <i>Hoodwinked!<\/i> going<\/a> before it even had a distributor, \u201ccharges that Weinstein is in breach of its joint-production agreement\u201d for the sequel \u201cbecause it never presented a plan to market and distribute the film or make a trailer for it, per the agreement,\u201d reports the <i>Times<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Presumably the film <i>will<\/i> be released to the public in some form or other eventually. But for now it\u2019s an open question, even more so than before, as to when and how that will happen.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, the original <i>Hoodwinked!<\/i> is currently the Weinstein Company\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/boxofficemojo.com\/studio\/chart\/?studio=wdimension.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">third-highest-grossing movie ever<\/a>, behind <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadianchristianity.com\/bc\/bccn\/0909\/20tarantino.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Inglourious Basterds<\/a><\/i> (2009) and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/friday-13th-and-other-r-rated-movies.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Scary Movie 4<\/a><\/i> (2006).<\/p>\n<p>APR 3 UPDATE: <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1118017148.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Variety<\/a><\/i> has some more details. And someone has posted an intriguing but anonymous comment at <a href=\"http:\/\/theplaylist.blogspot.com\/2010\/04\/weinstein-sued-by-kanbar-entertainment.html#comments\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Playlist<\/a> to the effect that: \u201cAfter the way Kanbar treated the creators of this franchise, a little phrase about karma comes to mind\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First the release date came and went.
