However, last week, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloody-disgusting.com\/news\/12913\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Bloody-Disgusting<\/a> claimed that it had learned the new film would be more of a sequel than a remake; supposedly, it will take place about two decades after the earlier films and be kind of a next-generation thing, similar perhaps to the Dan Aykroyd version of <i>Dragnet<\/i> (1987) or the Samuel L. Jackson version of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/03\/flashback-jeffrey-wright-shaft.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Shaft<\/a><\/i> (2000).<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">2.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/moviesblog.mtv.com\/2008\/07\/24\/breaking-tron-sequel-teaser-revealed-jeff-bridges-returns-for-tr2n\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">MTV Movies Blog<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.riskybusinessblog.com\/2008\/07\/new-tron-footag.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Risky Biz Blog<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comingsoon.net\/news\/movienews.php?id=47152\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">ComingSoon.net<\/a> report that Disney surprised Comic-Con audiences today by showing some test footage from the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/09\/tron-sequel-in-works-again.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">sequel<\/a> to <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/one-of-first-cgi-movies-now-in.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Tron<\/a><\/i> (1982; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadianchristianity.com\/cgi-bin\/na.cgi?bc\/bccn\/0402\/et\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">my review<\/a>) \u2014 featuring <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/newsbites-tron-galactica-darkness.html#1\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jeff Bridges<\/a> as not one but <i>two<\/i> different characters, at least one of whom might be a villain!  Oh, and they\u2019re calling it <i>Tr2n<\/i>.  Because it\u2019s the second movie, see.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">3.<\/a> <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.variety.com\/article\/VR1117989407.html?categoryid=13&amp;cs=1&amp;nid=2562\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Variety<\/a><\/i> and the <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/hr\/content_display\/film\/news\/e3i07ef0d738df1ea6f32a109e0058ac4da\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/i> say Philip Noyce is attached to direct a remake of <i>Captain Blood<\/i> (1935).<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I have always thought that <i>The Adventures of Robin Hood<\/i> (1938), one of my official <a href=\"http:\/\/peter.chattaway.com\/movies\/topten.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">ten favorite films<\/a> of all time, was sort of a remake of <i>Captain Blood<\/i> \u2014 it, too, features Errol Flynn as an outlaw who woos Olivia de Havilland and crosses swords with Basil Rathbone, and it even features an improved version of one of the earlier film\u2019s bits of dialogue.  If memory serves, both films include a scene where de Havilland says to Flynn, \u201cYou speak treason!\u201d  In <i>Captain Blood<\/i>, Flynn replies, \u201cI hope I\u2019m not obscure.\u201d  But in <i>Robin Hood<\/i>, he simply replies, \u201cFluently.\u201d  Classic.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">4.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/vjmorton.wordpress.com\/2008\/07\/24\/i-fearlessly-predict\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Victor Morton<\/a> lists several reasons why the new big-screen version of <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0412536\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Brideshead Revisited<\/a><\/i> will probably \u201csuck pretty hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"5\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">5.<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/the_big_picture\/2008\/07\/is-bill-clinton.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Patrick Goldstein<\/a> says <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/newsbites-legion-hereafter-w-lean-trek.html#2\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Peter Morgan<\/a>, the Oscar-nominated writer of <i>The Deal<\/i> (2003) and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/oscars-no-one-gets-to-win-more-than.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Queen<\/a><\/i> (2006) \u2014 both of which were directed by Stephen Frears and starred Michael Sheen as British Prime Minister Tony Blair \u2014 is planning a third film, currently called <i>The Special Relationship<\/i>, which will look at Blair\u2019s friendship with Bill Clinton.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"6\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">6.<\/a> The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtop.com\/?nid=114&amp;sid=1441569\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Associated Press<\/a> reports that the new video game <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucasarts.com\/games\/theforceunleashed\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Star Wars: The Force Unleashed<\/a><\/i> will take place between <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/newsbites-legion-hereafter-w-lean-trek.html#9\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the prequels<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/filmchatblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/07\/newsbites-sequels-and-remakes-edition.html#7\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the original trilogy<\/a> \u2014 and will even include new \u201cpivotal\u201d story elements:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the game, players become Darth Vader\u2019s secret apprentice and use The Force to hunt the remaining Jedi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForce Unleashed\u201d allows gamers use supercharged Force powers to bust through objects, wield a lightsaber, blast lighting bolts and fling around foes.
