But there\u2019s a third film waiting in the wings, too, and it just happens to be the only one of the three that is based on the New Testament rather than the Old. That film is <i>Son of God<\/i>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/2013\/06\/jesus-section-of-the-bible-now-a-135-minute-movie.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">135-minute movie<\/a> extracted from the Jesus sections of <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/filmchat\/tag\/bible-2013\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">The Bible<\/a><\/i> \u2014 and <i><a href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2013\/film\/news\/tom-sherak-advising-mark-burnett-roma-downey-on-son-of-god-pact-1200590850\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Variety<\/a><\/i> reports that producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have hired industry veteran Tom Sherak to advise them as they consider offers from various distributors. <i>Variety<\/i> says some sort of deal should be finalized \u201cin the next few weeks, if not sooner,\u201d and the current plan is to release the film in March, \u201cto coincide with Easter\u201d \u2014 though Easter is actually on April 20 next year, so it might be more accurate to say the release would coincide with Lent. Incidentally, <i>Noah<\/i> is currently set to come out March 28, so if <i>Son of God<\/i> really <i>is<\/i> released during Lent, you could see <i>two<\/i> mainstream Bible movies playing at multiplexes everywhere simultaneously \u2014 which would have to be some kind of first.
