Jim Hill<\/a> thinks so:<\/span><\/p>\n

From what I\u2019ve heard, studio suits seem to be cooling to the idea of producing movie versions of all seven of C.S. Lewis\u2019s \u201cNarnia<\/a>\u201d books. And unless \u201cThe Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian<\/a>\u201d does truly huge box office once it\u2019s released to theaters in May of this year \u2026 Disney & Walden Media (i.e. Mickey\u2019s partner on the \u201cNarnia\u201d film series) will probably still go forward with production of the already-in-development \u201cThe Voyage of the Dawn Treader<\/a>.\u201d But after that \u2026 The Mouse would then mostly likely pull the plug on the rest of the proposed \u201cNarnia\u201d film series.<\/p>\n

And were that to happen \u2026 That would then leave Walt Disney Pictures with a very big hole in its release schedule for 2011 and beyond. And given \u201cNarnia\u201d was initially supposed to have been this on-going franchise, with the Mouse once envisioning<\/a> releasing a brand-new chapter in the \u201cChronicles\u201d to theaters every May from 2008 through 2013 \u2026 Well, Mickey would love to be able to fill that hole with another film franchise.<\/p>\n

Which explains some of the urgency that now surrounds the \u201cJohn Carter<\/a>\u201d films. Should \u201cPrince Caspian\u201d stumble once it hits theaters this Spring, Disney may be looking for Pixar to begin its mission to \u201cMars\u201d pretty damned quick. . . .<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hmmm, but what if WALL-E<\/a><\/i> should \u201cstumble\u201d instead? Jim Hill has suggested recently that that film is making Disney nervous too, and that<\/i> fim happens to be a Pixar flick directed by Andrew Stanton \u2014 just like John Carter of Mars<\/i> would be. What if both<\/i> films should \u201cstumble\u201d? What would Disney do then<\/i>?<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
