Someone actually devoted a whole Youtube video mocking me and my fellow Conditionally Accepted bloggers. Wow. Bored much?
I’ve been a regular contributor to Conditionally Accepted since, hm, 2013 or so. It’s a project I’m really proud to be involved with, as I believe the contingent voices in academia have value and deserve a platform.
Part of our mission involves recognizing that knowledge is produced by people, and people are all positioned differently in regard to access to knowledge, power, and institutional resources. To someone with any academic training, saying this is a huge “duh.” Knowledge doesn’t just fall out of the sky. It’s manufactured by people, and we all have biases and life experiences conditioning how we go about this.
Our main editor Eric just pointed out this Youtube video reading the biographies of all of us main contributors in a mocking fashion. No need to click on it and hear this dude mis-pronouncing half our names and calling us SJWs if you don’t want to. That’s basically what it is.
Anyway, I’m just amused between this and the recent “Jews promoting degeneracy” comment that people think this is a good use of their time. Go try to make something that doesn’t suck if you want to make this a better world. It’s harder than it looks.
