This post is a blast from the past. It\u2019s the first post I published on October 22, 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

I thought it would be interesting to revisit it today. If nothing else, it will re-establish the purpose and focus of this blog:<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s always a privilege to \u201cbe there from the beginning\u201d of any new venture.<\/p>\n

So if you\u2019re reading this post, then welcome . . . and I\u2019m glad you are present for our beginning.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m honored to have been invited to participate in the Patheos blog platform.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve accepted the invitation for the following reasons:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Patheos hosts many blogs representing different religions. So while I will be writing primarily for the evangelical community, I want to interact with those of other faiths as well. Patheos affords me with this opportunity.<\/li>\n
  2. I will be featuring blog posts that will create dialogue on some of the \u201chot-button\u201d issues that face Christians today, all with a view toward rediscovering the supremacy of Jesus Christ.<\/li>\n
  3. I wish to model civil, gracious, and Christ-honoring dissent with some of my peers over various issues. My hope is that such dialogue will serve as a model for Christian disagreement. We can disagree without resorting to misrepresentations or personal attacks. I also hope it will aid in clarifying various issues, both for myself and for others.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    What You Can Expect<\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. You can expect me to blog regularly.<\/li>\n
    2. You can expect to be inspired and encouraged (I hope).<\/li>\n
    3. You can expect to be stimulated and challenged.<\/li>\n
    4. You can expect me to participate in the discussions.<\/li>\n
    5. You can expect to be forced to do your homework if you level a challenge.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Comments are open for interaction. However, they will be moderated \u2014 though I\u2019m not the one who will do the moderating. See the Rules for Comment Moderation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

      Launching a new blog isn\u2019t easy. I\u2019m seeking to build a brand new audience here, one that is different from my other online outlets (which will continue).<\/p>\n

      Consequently, this blog isn\u2019t replacing any of my other writing platforms. It\u2019s an additional medium.<\/p>\n
