7 Quick Takes Friday

7 Quick Takes Friday February 1, 2013

No books this week. I mean, I love books. I have them. Lots of them. Just none today.

Very exciting friends! Tomorrow I’m travelling to Peoria IL with the wonderful Leanne for a blogger meet-up, Mass, dinner, and a talk with the lovely Lisa Schmidt and Sr. Helena Burns. I get to hang out with Marie and finally meet Dianna and Bonnie So excited!

I ended up with a free afternoon today, so I treated myself to mani/pedi. I tried the gel manicure that everyone is talking about. Wow. It dries fast and doesn’t chip. She said it could last 2 weeks. I sure hope so! They even had my favorite color; OPI I’m Not Really A Waitress red.

Did I tell you about the best red wine ever?

No?

It’s Apothic Red. A friend brought it to book club a while ago and I am hooked. I’m not a red wine girl. My motto when it comes to wine (after, “Is this a joke? Get me a bigger glass!”) is “the sweeter the better”.

But Apothic Red is a blended wine. It’s just a little sweet, but avoids the striking dryness of other reds, which made me not like them.

So good.

Do you have any game ideas for two players?
We have Scrabble, Scattergories, and Carmen SanDiego (don’t judge). Any others you can think of?
Also, remember these guys:
500 coolness points to the first person to name them!

So, thanks for all the love on my post yesterday on Humiliation and Trust. It’s hard sometimes to write about infertility, for the very reason that it is humiliating and it’s like cutting open a vein and letting it bleed on the page. The results are not pretty. But the Catholic world needs to know that it’s not all honeymoon babies and 12 passenger vans, and that couple in the pew with only one child may not be the contracepting “cafeteria” Catholics you think they are.
Also, in case it was lost in the post, I’m not sorry for one minute that I am living my life, with its crosses and sorrows. I don’t wish I could trade with anyone reading this who has normal fertility. I love my life, my family. I just wish sometimes that I could get pregnant without needing to utilize the technology required for the space program, is all.
Easier to launch this than to get me pregnant

Thanks to all of you for voting for me in the “Sheenazing” blog awards. Alas, I did not win in the “most inspiring blog” category. However, if you head on over to the Sheenazing page, you can find some excellent blogs to devour your time.
