I\u2019ll admit that several weeks ago, when I first saw the ads for CBS\u2019 new series \u201cUnder The Dome,\u201d I laughed a little bit. \u00a0The idea immediately brought a few questions to mind. \u00a0Apparently, according to users on IMDB.com, they were thinking the same thing\u2026<\/p>\n

$\"\"$ <\/a><\/p>\n

Particularly, what came to mind was The Simpsons Movie<\/em>\u00a0(\u201cTrappuccino\u201d.) \u00a0And now, it appeared, we had a real life example of this idea.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t know at the time that it was based on a Stephen King story. \u00a0So when I was researching new shows premiering, I came across the details for \u201cUnder The Dome\u201d and thought,\u00a0Okay, I have to watch the pilot.<\/em><\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t disappointed. \u00a0To a degree.<\/p>\n

Apparently, plenty of others are thinking the same thing. \u00a0IndieWire has reported that the show has the feel of an episode of \u201cThe Twilight Zone.\u201d \u00a0The New York Times stated that the writers\u2019 lack of stereotype use helped bring this show into a more believable light (to which I somewhat disagree\u2026 my personal review will come later). \u00a0HitFix rated the premier episode a B while readers gave it a C+ rating, and said that the future of the series is \u201cquite promising\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a premier event that drew 13 million viewers, CBS seems to have made a great investment in making sure \u201cUnder The Dome\u201d succeeds on as many levels as possible. \u00a0With a team of producer Agatha Warren (\u201cA Gifted Man\u201d, \u201cPrison Break\u201d) and creator Brian K. Vaughan (\u201cLost\u201d), there exists the potential for a stunning, gripping human drama that will focus on the darkness of human nature. \u00a013 episodes have been ordered, and as long as the series remains consistent, I have no doubt that CBS will renew the series for future development.<\/p>\n
