{"id":21038,"date":"2015-03-26T05:30:26","date_gmt":"2015-03-26T09:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admin.patheos.com\/blogs\/geneveith\/?p=21038"},"modified":"2015-03-25T20:57:04","modified_gmt":"2015-03-26T00:57:04","slug":"unbroken-the-christian-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/geneveith\/2015\/03\/unbroken-the-christian-cut\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Unbroken&#8221;: the Christian cut"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>The movie version of <em>Unbroken<\/em>, about the trials of World War II hero Louis Zamperini, left out the account of his conversion to Christianity and his trip to Japan to forgive the ones who tortured him as a POW.\u00a0 But now a new version of the movie is being released on video that supplements director Angelina Jolie\u2019s film with documentary footage and interviews that tell the rest of the story.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-hollywood\/2015\/03\/24\/universal-to-release-christian-edition-of-unbroken\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Universal to Release Christian Edition of \u2018Unbroken\u2019 \u2013 Breitbart<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Universal Pictures will release a special edition \u201cLegacy of Faith\u201d DVD of the Angelina Jolie-directed film Unbroken on Tuesday that will be available exclusively at Christian outlets.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Hollywood Reporter, the special Christian edition of the DVD includes both the film and an additional 90 minutes of extra material that explores Louis Zamperini\u2019s relationship with the Reverend Billy Graham and his embrace of Christianity following the horrors he experienced as a prisoner of war during World War II.<\/p>\n<div id=\"premium-content\">\n<p>Zamperini\u2019s turn toward faith makes up a significant part of the Laura Hillenbrand book on which the film was based. However, the movie\u2019s producers left most of the Olympian\u2019s post-World War II life on the cutting room floor.<\/p>\n<p>The new material reportedly includes pictures and video footage of Zamperini and Graham from the 1950s and also includes interviews with Zamperini\u2019s children, Luke Zamperini and Cynthia Zamperini Garris, and author Hillenbrand.
