{"id":23434,"date":"2016-03-01T05:30:24","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T10:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admin.patheos.com\/blogs\/geneveith\/?p=23434"},"modified":"2016-02-29T20:56:26","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T01:56:26","slug":"the-nba-game-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/geneveith\/2016\/03\/the-nba-game-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"The NBA game of the year?"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p>If you are playing football, say, and the opposing team has Superman as a player, it is going to be difficult and probably impossible to win. \u00a0The Golden State Warriors have a player, Steph Curry, with a super power. \u00a0He can sink three-point shots from virtually any place on the court, far beyond the three-point line.<\/p>\n<p>In one of the best basketball games I\u2019ve ever seen, in what some are calling the NBA game of the year, the Oklahoma City Thunder played Golden State (which has only lost 5 games all season) and actually led for most of the game. \u00a0It would have won, if\u00a0a foul in the last .7 second didn\u2019t result in two free throws that let the Warriors tie\u00a0the game and sent it into overtime.<\/p>\n<p>But Curry kept launching those three-point shots, bringing the Warriors back into the game again and again, tying the NBA record with 12 three-pointers. \u00a0And in the very last moments, Curry shot from what looked like 6 feet back from the three-point line. \u00a0It went in smoothly, and the Warriors won the game 121-118.<\/p>\n<div id=\"premium-content\">\n<p>But I was proud of the Thunder, who gave the Warriors their toughest game all season, even if they did have someone with super powers on their team.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/2620280-golden-state-warriors-vs-oklahoma-city-thunder-live-score-highlights-reaction\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Golden State Warriors vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Live Score, Highlights, Reaction | Bleacher Report<\/a>:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/stephen-curry\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Stephen Curry<\/a> scored 46 points and tied the <a href=\"http:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/nba\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">NBA<\/a> single-game record by making 12 three-pointers, including one from way beyond the arc that would serve as the game-winning shot with 0.6 seconds remaining, and the Golden State Warriors outlasted the Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime, 121-118, in a thriller at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>This was probably the best game of the season.<\/p>\n<p>The Thunder got out to a terrific start, jumping out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter in front of a delirious crowd.<\/p>\n<p>The Warriors made a couple of runs in the second quarter, but Oklahoma City ended up closing the half strong and taking a 57-46 lead into the locker room.<\/p>\n<p>OKC was in control for most of the second half, and things looked bleak for Golden State when Curry exited the game after turning his ankle in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>However, Curry would return, and calamity ensued.<\/p>\n<p>Curry chipped away at the Thunder\u2019s lead in the fourth quarter, draining three-pointers and working the Oklahoma City defense.<\/p>\n<p>Still, it did not look like it was going to be enough.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/2620280-golden-state-warriors-vs-oklahoma-city-thunder-live-score-highlights-reaction\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">[Keep reading. . .]<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are playing football, say, and the opposing team has Superman as a player, it is going to be difficult and probably impossible to win. \u00a0The Golden State Warriors have a player, Steph Curry, with a super power. \u00a0He can sink three-point shots from virtually any place on the court, far beyond the three-point [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1281,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[43],"tags":[264,4378,2566,1629,4379],"class_list":["post-23434","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sports","tag-basketball","tag-golden-state-warriors","tag-nba","tag-oklahoma-city-thunder","tag-steph-curry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.1 -
