Ah, the Internet! You see, I like to hang out on Cranach, a blog run by a conservative Lutheran and often commented on by conservative Lutherans, as well as people of other conservative stripes. But I tend to play the gadfly there, given that my political views are generally less conservative than my theological ones.<\/p>\n
Bror here is a fellow commenter, one with whom I can occasionally butt heads. He\u2019s a Lutheran pastor in the greater Salt Lake City area, and, well, we don\u2019t share a ton in common. Except a conservative Lutheran faith and a love of beer.<\/p>\n
\nSo when he came to Portland to visit some friends, he actually contacted me, and we met for the first time in person at Bailey\u2019s Taproom, to sample some of the Northwest\u2019s many fine beers. It was very nice to meet him, and to realize that, ultimately, a common faith \u2014 especially one so centered on forgiveness and loving your brother \u2014 bridges over many cultural and political differences. A few pints of beer doesn\u2019t hurt, either. \nWe need to have similar summit meetings around the country. Maybe someday we\u2019ll have a massive convention. In the meantime, if you run into any fellow Cranachers, send word and if possible a photo.<\/p>\n
