The FBI questioned Hillary Clinton for over three hours on Saturday about her private e-mail system and whether or not it put\u00a0government secrets in jeopardy. \u00a0That means the FBI\u2019s investigation is drawing to a close, and we should know soon whether or not the former Secretary of State will be indicted.<\/p>\n

Chris Cilizza, who discusses the situation after the jump, notes that she does not have the\u00a02,383 pledged delegates necessary for the Democratic presidential nomination. \u00a0She has 2,220, which means she will need the super-delegates to put her over the top. \u00a0An indictment would threaten her nomination. \u00a0Then again, if she isn\u2019t indicted, that will hurt her politically also.<\/a><\/p>\n

The FBI interviewed Hillary Clinton for three hours Saturday<\/a>, the presumed final step of its investigation into whether the former secretary of state or any of her top aides exposed government secrets because of her decision to exclusively use a private email server while serving as the nation\u2019s top diplomat.<\/p>\n

Assuming that the long-awaited Clinton interview does indeed signal the imminent end of the investigation, the timing could get very interesting, very quickly.<\/p>\n

The Democratic Party\u2019s national convention opens in Philadelphia on July 25 \u2014 23\u00a0days from today. \u00a0Until Clinton is formally nominated by the convention\u00a0delegates, she is only the presumptive<\/em> nominee. And depending on when the FBI decides to announce its finding, it could badly complicate Clinton\u2019s attempts to build momentum going into and coming out of the convention.<\/p>\n
