The 2016 Republican Convention<\/a> starts today in Cleveland, Ohio. \u00a0It may be a strange one. \u00a0Most A-list political speakers are not coming, but we will be getting lots of athletes whom presidential nominee Donald Trump hails as \u201cwinners.\u201d \u00a0A big number of the delegates who will be voting for Trump nevertheless do not care for him, which might\u00a0mean the traditional spontaneous demonstrations will lack their normal enthusiasm. \u00a0There are worries about protests and violence outside the\u00a0hall and what NeverTrump delegates inside the hall might do, though the insurgent delegates seem pretty much defeated. \u00a0And no one knows what the candidate himself might do or say. \u00a0Republican leadership, though, is working hard to put on a good show.<\/p>\n

No, I won\u2019t be liveblogging the convention, or even watching much of it, contrary to my usual practice, since I\u2019m\u00a0on the road this week. \u00a0Feel free to comment upon it here.<\/p>\n

It all starts on Monday.<\/p>\n

After nearly a year of debate, five months of primaries, 17 candidates, and much sniping, the Republican National Convention will finally begin on Monday in Cleveland, with Donald Trump and Mike Pence set to be formally nominated as the presidential and vice presidential nominees for the Republican Party. Here\u2019s everything you need to know:<\/p>\n

How to watch<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For the prime time speeches, every major network \u2014 NBC, ABC, FOX, CBS<\/a>, and PBS \u2014 will be airing the convention live. You\u2019ll also be able to watch coverage on the major cable news networks like CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a true convention nerd, though, and you want to watch the actual convention happenings all day for four days, the place to go is CSPAN. The cable channel, which normally shows live happenings within the halls of Congress, will have gavel-to-gavel coverage of the convention.<\/p>\n

For the cord-cutters out there, there are plenty of options. Many news channels will be streaming the speeches on their websites, and CBS is working with Twitter to air the convention via the social network. CSPAN will be airing its coverage via Facebook<\/a> Live.<\/p>\n
