Right at a year ago, we posted Megabrewery\u2013no, Gigabrewery<\/a>\u00a0about a proposed merger between the multinational company that makes Budweiser and the multinational company that makes Miller.<\/p>\n

There were lots of regulatory, anti-trust, and stockholder obstacles to that deal, but\u00a0they have been overcome. \u00a0Anheuser-Busch InBev will take over SABMiller in a $100 billlion transaction that will create the world\u2019s largest brewing company, accounting for one-third of the world\u2019s beer.<\/p>\n

But, if it\u2019s any consolation, American anti-trust regulators required the company to spin off the operation that brews Miller products in this country. \u00a0So MillerCoors will be sold to Molson Coors, making the largest American brewery.<\/p>\n

(This may be just of interest to Milwaukee and St. Louis Lutherans.)<\/p>\n

Shareholders of SABMiller Wednesday approved the takeover by Anheuser-Busch InBev, the parent company of Budweiser.<\/p>\n
