One of the funniest comic strips still going is Dilbert<\/em>, Scott Adams\u2019 satirical takedown of office culture and the corporate world.<\/p>\n

Adams would appear to be anti-corporation, which would stereotype him as a liberal. \u00a0But he isn\u2019t. \u00a0He is apparently in the tradition of Al Capp, as a very funny conservative cartoonist. \u00a0(Actually, it has been said that all<\/em> satire is intrinsically conservative, because it measures absurdity against an objective standard.)<\/p>\n

Scott Adams is a Donald Trump supporter who questions climate change, on the basis that scientific modelling\u2013which is the basis for all of the dire predictions\u2013is nearly always wrong.<\/p>\n

So even though Dilbert<\/em> doesn\u2019t directly take up politics or these other controversial issues, the hue and cry has begun to pressure newspapers to drop the comic strip.<\/p>\n

When Scott Adams, the creator of \u201cDilbert,\u201d endorsed Donald Trump for president, the \u201cClinton bullies,\u201d as he calls them, came after him with full force: \u201cThey started calling newspapers, demanding they drop \u2018Dilbert,\u2019\u201d Adams told me from his Berkeley-area home last week. \u201cMy speaking engagements dried up to zero. My income dropped by about one-third.\u201d<\/p>\n

He initially endorsed Clinton to protect \u201chis own personal safety, because I live in California. It isn\u2019t safe to be a Trump supporter where I live,\u201d he wrote in his blog last September when he officially switched his endorsement to Trump over concerns about Clinton\u2019s health and estate tax plan.<\/p>\n

Now Adams is emerging as a key provocateur in an area even more brutally divisive than presidential politics: climate change. The man who has satirized corporate culture and groupthink for nearly 30 years is agitating the groupthink on both sides of the climate change debate. \u201cI\u2019m looking at this through a persuasive filter. The argument is absurd on both sides,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople have convinced themselves they understand it, but they don\u2019t. There could be a third option on this.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
