A study of DNA from modern Lebanon found that its population is descended from the ancient Canaanites. \u00a0Which is proof that the Canaanites survived Joshua\u2019s invasion\u2013as the Bible said they did.<\/p>\n

But, somehow, the news media had the impression that the Bible taught that the Canaanites were wiped out! \u00a0So headlines crowed that the Bible had been\u00a0proven wrong!<\/p>\n

Never mind Joshua 1:27-36.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the study focused on the inhabitants of the Lebanese city of Sidon, a place where the Bible explicitly says the Canaanites survived (Joshua 1:31).<\/p>\n

I came across one of those articles on the findings, with the claim that it refuted what the Bible said, and marveled at the Biblical\u00a0ignorance. \u00a0But\u00a0David Klinghoffer<\/a>\u00a0compiled the headlines and discussed the howlers. \u00a0A very few of the\u00a0publications later\u00a0made corrections, but not many.<\/p>\n
