The Trump administration is being investigated by the FBI.\u00a0 But now the FBI is also being investigated!<\/p>\n

It started with a lead agent on the Trump case, Peter Strzok, being caught sending anti-Trump e-mails, a clear case of bias.\u00a0 So Special Prosecutor\u00a0Robert Mueller took him off the case.<\/p>\n

But then there was more.<\/a>\u00a0 An e-mail was found from Strzok to FBI lawyer Lisa Page\u2013who turns out to be his mistress!\u2013saying this about the prospects for Trump\u2019s election:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy\u2019s office \u2014 that there\u2019s no way he gets elected \u2014 but I\u2019m afraid we can\u2019t take that risk. It\u2019s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you\u2019re 40 . . .\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An insurance policy against Trump\u2019s election?\u00a0 What is he referring to?\u00a0 Some speculate that this is a threat of violence<\/a> against the president.\u00a0 But more likely it\u2019s a reference to the Steele dossier, which reports scandalous behavior by Trump in Russia and says that Russia is conspiring to get him elected.\u00a0 That dossier has\u00a0not only been discredited, it turns out that it was funded by Clinton campaign!\u00a0 And yet the FBI was making use of this document.<\/p>\n

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, led by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) is investigating the Federal Bureau of Investigation on these matters.\u00a0 The committee has learned allegations of a \u201csecret society\u201d within the FBI that was not only conspiring against Trump but helping to elect Hillary Clinton by squelching the investigation of her illegal e-mails.<\/p>\n

Then, lo and behold, five months worth of e-mails\u2013some 50,000 messages\u2013between Strzok and Page that the House committee wants to review have turned out to be missing!<\/p>\n

Michael Goodwin<\/a> explains why all of this is so very wrong in\u00a0Evidence suggests a massive scandal is brewing at the FBI | New York Post<\/a>:<\/em><\/p>\n

Each day brings credible reports suggesting there is a massive scandal involving the top ranks of America\u2019s premier law enforcement agency. The reports, which feature talk among agents of a \u201csecret society\u201d and suddenly missing text messages, point to the existence both of a cabal dedicated to defeating Donald Trump in 2016 and of a plan to let Hillary Clinton skate free in the classified email probe.<\/p>\n

If either one is true \u2014 and I believe both probably are \u2014 it would mean FBI leaders betrayed the nation by abusing their powers in a bid to pick the president.<\/p>\n

More support for this view involves\u00a0the FBI\u2019s use of the Russian dossier on Trump<\/a>\u00a0that was paid for by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. It is almost certain that the FBI used the dossier to get FISA court warrants to spy on Trump associates, meaning it used the opposition research of the party in power to convince a court to let it spy on the candidate of the other party \u2014 likely without telling the court of the dossier\u2019s political link.<\/p>\n

Even worse, there is growing reason to believe someone in President Barack Obama\u2019s administration turned over classified information about Trump to the Clinton campaign.<\/p>\n

As one former federal prosecutor put it, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t get worse than that.\u201d<\/p>\n

What are we to make of this?\u00a0 Is the alleged FBI scandal a counter-narrative constructed by Trump supporters to discredit the agency\u2019s investigation of him? (Note the postmodernism in that sentence.)\u00a0 I suspect Trump\u2019s critics will say so.\u00a0 But how do they account for the\u00a0evidence\u00a0and the mysteriously missing evidence as uncovered by the House committee?<\/p>\n

Is this evidence of the \u201cdeep state\u201d of federal officials that\u00a0don\u2019t want Trump to be president and are\u00a0governing the nation without him?\u00a0 Or is everyone in Washington tainted by corruption as they investigate each other?\u00a0 Or what?<\/p>\n

UPDATE:\u00a0 The missing messages\u2013apparently texts rather than e-mails\u2013have been recovered<\/a>!<\/p>\n
