{"id":31340,"date":"2018-02-12T05:45:59","date_gmt":"2018-02-12T10:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admin.patheos.com\/blogs\/geneveith\/?p=31340"},"modified":"2018-02-11T20:49:39","modified_gmt":"2018-02-12T01:49:39","slug":"the-other-ms-milletts-withering-critique-of-feminism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/geneveith\/2018\/02\/the-other-ms-milletts-withering-critique-of-feminism\/","title":{"rendered":"Mallory Millett&#8217;s Critique of Her Sister&#8217;s Feminism"},"content":{"rendered":"<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><head><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><meta http-equiv=\"content-type\" content=\"text\/html; charset=utf-8\"><\/head><body><p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/305\/2018\/02\/Kate_millet_1.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31346\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/305\/2018\/02\/Kate_millet_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"691\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kate_Millett\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Kate Millett<\/a>, who died last year, has been called the Karl Marx\u2013or even the Mao Tse Tung\u2013of the Women\u2019s Movement.\u00a0 Her sister, Mallory, was present in the early days of the National Organization of Women (NOW), which her sister helped to found, but she became a Christian and a pro-life activist.<\/p>\n<p>I was put on to an interview of Mallory Millett, entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/269251\/my-sister-kate-destructive-feminist-legacy-kate-mark-tapson\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">My Sister Kate:\u00a0 The Destructive Feminist Legacy of Kate Millett<\/a>, in which she offers bitter memories of her relationship with her sister and a withering critique of the feminist movement and what it has done to our culture.<\/p>\n<div id=\"premium-content\">\n<p>Her thesis is that the radical feminist movement was never really about female empowerment.\u00a0 Since the Garden of Eden, she says, \u201cman will do anything to please woman,\u201d and this power women have over men, when used rightly, has been an important civilizing influence.\u00a0 However, the agenda of radical feminists like sister Kate has been to replace \u201cthe running of society\u201d by cultivating the family, raising children, and promoting a moral order with \u201crunning the world,\u201d after the fashion of men.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, as Mallory says, citing the early discussions of the movement, radical feminists have quite overtly sought to destroy the bastions of women\u2019s social power:\u00a0 the family, by means of the sexual revolution, and motherhood, by means of abortion. \u201cOne of their most desired results,\u201d according to Mallory, \u201cwas the smashing of every taboo in Western culture.\u201d\u00a0 Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/269251\/my-sister-kate-destructive-feminist-legacy-kate-mark-tapson\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The interviewer cites an article that Mallory Millett wrote in 2014, in which she sets forth more formally her indictment against feminism:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/240037\/marxist-feminisms-ruined-lives-mallory-millett\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Marxist Feminism\u2019s Ruined Lives:\u00a0 The Horror I Witnessed Inside the Women\u2019s \u2018Liberation\u201d Movement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a sample, she tells about what she witnessed in the early days of the National Organization of Women:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It was 1969. Kate invited me to join her for a gathering at the home of her friend, Lila Karp. They called the assemblage a \u201cconsciousness-raising-group,\u201d a typical communist exercise, something practiced in Maoist China. \u00a0We gathered at a large table as the chairperson opened the meeting with a back-and-forth recitation, like a Litany, a type of prayer done in Catholic Church. But now it was Marxism, the Church of the Left, mimicking religious practice:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy are we here today?\u201d she asked.<br>\n\u201cTo make revolution,\u201d they answered.<br>\n\u201cWhat kind of revolution?\u201d she replied.<br>\n\u201cThe Cultural Revolution,\u201d they chanted.<br>\n\u201cAnd how do we make Cultural Revolution?\u201d she demanded.<br>\n\u201cBy destroying the American family!\u201d they answered.<br>\n\u201cHow do we destroy the family?\u201d she came back.<br>\n\u201cBy destroying the American Patriarch,\u201d they cried exuberantly.<br>\n\u201cAnd how do we destroy the American Patriarch?\u201d she replied.<br>\n\u201cBy taking away his power!\u201d<br>\n\u201cHow do we do that?\u201d<br>\n\u201cBy destroying monogamy!\u201d they shouted.<br>\n\u201cHow can we destroy monogamy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears. \u00a0Was I on planet earth? \u00a0Who were these people?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!\u201d they resounded.<\/p>\n<p>They proceeded with a long discussion on how to advance these goals by establishing The National Organization of Women. \u00a0It was clear they desired nothing less than the utter deconstruction of Western society.
