Many Christians were willing to overlook Trump\u2019s bad qualities in the name of the pro-life cause.\u00a0 He would appoint pro-life judges and Supreme Court justices who, in our wildest fantasies, might overturn Roe v. Wade.\u00a0 That has happened.\u00a0 Trump deserves credit for that.<\/p>\n
But now he is, once again, the frontrunner for getting the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, though he has not yet said that he will be running.\u00a0 Still, he exerts lots of influence in the Republican party and in the conservative movement.<\/p>\n

So is there now a specifically Christian<\/em> case for supporting Trump if he should run again?\u00a0 Certainly a case can be made for that on political, ideological, or pragmatic grounds.\u00a0 But is there a Christian<\/em> or moral<\/em> case for doing so?\u00a0 Or should we, as French urges, go back to the earlier Moral Majority principle that the candidate\u2019s moral character is paramount?<\/p>\nDiscuss.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
