In 1994, Congressman Newt Gingrich worked with other Republicans to put together the \u201cContract with America<\/a>,\u201d designed to give their a unified message that would lead them to victory in the midterm elections over Bill Clinton\u2019s Democrats.\u00a0 It did, as both the House and the Senate flipped to Republicans for the first time in 40 years.<\/p>\n

Now the Republicans are trying the same strategy.\u00a0 They hope to unite the different factions in their party with a document entitled\u00a0The Republican Commitment to America<\/a>.<\/p>\n
