Iran<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/06\/13\/middleeast\/israel-attack-iran-nuclear-program-explainer-intl\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Israel has attacked Iran<\/a>, bombing that country\u2019s nuclear research sites and killing key military leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Israel has long wanted to take out Iran\u2019s efforts to develop nuclear weapons.\u00a0 Talks on that subject had broken down between Iran and the Trump administration, so Israel took action.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/why-israel-needed-to-act-now\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Reportedly<\/a>, Israeli President Netanyahu felt the time was right because Iran is in a weakened state, especially with its proxies Hamas and Hezbollah neutralized.<\/p>\n<div id=\"premium-content\">\n<p>Israel killed nuclear scientists, the leader of the Islamic Republican Guard, the chief of staff of Iran\u2019s military forces, and the commander of Iran\u2019s air force.\u00a0 The offensive was <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/13\/world-news\/israel-mossad-infiltrated-iran-to-damage-air-defense-systems-during-operation-rising-lion-airstrikes\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ingenious<\/a>, including smuggling drones for internal attacks and tricking military leaders into having a meeting all at one location where they could be killed.<\/p>\n<p>Israel says that it will continue its attacks as long as necessary and Iran has vowed retaliation.<\/p>\n<p>A big question now is what will the United States do?\u00a0 President Trump has reiterated his support for Israel and the attacks.\u00a0 \u00a0His administration says that while the United States was informed about the attacks ahead of time, it was not directly involved with them.\u00a0 President Trump urged Iran to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/06\/13\/middleeast\/israel-attack-iran-nuclear-program-explainer-intl\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">resume the negotiations<\/a>, to agree to a new nuclear deal \u201cbefore there is nothing left.\u201d\u00a0 Secretary of State Rubio said that \u201cour top priority is protecting American forces in the region.\u201d\u00a0 So what if Iran attacks American forces?<\/p>\n<p>Many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2025\/06\/12\/israel-iran-trump-maga-00403531\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Trump supporters<\/a> are said to be nervous about the prospect of American involvement in a war with Iran.\u00a0 Trump campaigned against the interventionist policies of the \u201cneo-conservatives\u201d and vowed to keep America out of \u201cforever wars.\u201d To go against that pledge would be seen by many of his voters as a betrayal.\u00a0 Politico quotes <em>Breitbart<\/em>\u2018s Matt Boyle:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cClearly people across the MAGA movement are watching what\u2019s happening very closely and are concerned that any moves by globalists and neocon forces to drag the United States into another endless war in the Middle East would cause serious political damage to the president.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But it doesn\u2019t seem as if Israel needs any help.\u00a0 Unlike Ukraine, which is dependent on the U.S. and Western Europe for weaponry, Israel seems to be doing fine militarily by itself.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Unemployment Rate for Computer Engineering Grads Is Double That of Art History Majors<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cIf you want a job after college, don\u2019t major in the humanities!\u201d many parents have been telling their college-aged progeny.\u00a0 \u201cMajor in the STEM fields!\u00a0 Take Computer Engineering!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, we English majors are now vindicated.\u00a0 In <a href=\"https:\/\/e.vnexpress.net\/news\/tech\/tech-news\/us-computer-engineering-grads-face-double-the-unemployment-rate-of-art-history-majors-4893543.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">today\u2019s job market<\/a>, Computer Engineering grads have an unemployment rate of 7.5%.\u00a0 Straight Computer Science has an unemployment rate of 6.1%.\u00a0 That\u2019s double the rate of Art History graduates at only\u00a0 3%.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/cps\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">overall unemployment rate<\/a> in the United States is 4.2%.\u00a0 \u00a0The most in-demand field, according to the job market for new graduates, is nutritional science, with an unemployment rate of only 0.4%.<\/p>\n<p>So much for the T and the E in \u201cStem\u201d (technology and engineering).\u00a0 As for the S, the hard sciences also fare poorly.\u00a0 So do the Social Sciences.\u00a0 Here is the list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/list-popular-college-majors-high-unemployment-rates-2079887\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">10 fields<\/a> with the worst employment prospects:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Anthropology, 9.4 percent<\/li>\n<li>Physics, 7.8 percent<\/li>\n<li>Computer Engineering, 7.5 percent<\/li>\n<li>Commercial Art and Graphic Design, 7.2 percent<\/li>\n<li>Fine Arts, 7 percent<\/li>\n<li>Sociology, 6.7 percent<\/li>\n<li>Computer Science, 6.1 percent<\/li>\n<li>Chemistry, 6.1 percent<\/li>\n<li>Information Systems and Management, 5.6 percent<\/li>\n<li>Public Policy and Law, 5.5 percent<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Why the poor prospects for computer experts in our computer age?\u00a0 One <a href=\"https:\/\/e.vnexpress.net\/news\/tech\/tech-news\/computer-science-ranks-7th-among-us-college-majors-with-highest-unemployment-4891937.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">article<\/a> on the subject quotes an HR expert:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"Normal\">\u201cComputer science majors have long been sold a dream that doesn\u2019t match reality,\u201d HR consultant Bryan Driscoll said. \u201cBut just like many majors and related jobs, the reality hits hard \u2013 too many grads, not enough jobs, crippling student debt, and a market that rewards pedigree over potential.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A more concrete explanation is the rise of Artificial Intelligence.\u00a0 One of the areas AI is pretty good at is the ability to code.<\/p>\n<p>Says <a href=\"https:\/\/e.vnexpress.net\/news\/tech\/tech-news\/us-computer-engineering-grads-face-double-the-unemployment-rate-of-art-history-majors-4893543.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">another article<\/a> on the subject:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"Normal\">At a conference last year, Robert Goldstein, chief operating officer of BlackRock, the world\u2019s largest asset manager, said the firm was adjusting its hiring strategy. \u201cWe have more and more conviction that we need people who majored in history, in English, and things that have nothing to do with finance or technology,\u201d Goldstein said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\">This shift is partly driven by the rise of artificial intelligence, which is\u00a0increasing demand for creative thinking\u00a0and soft skills in the workforce.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Actually, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/yourmoney\/article-14785245\/bloodbath-tearing-middle-class-US-economy.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">James Reinl<\/a> of the UK <em>Daily Mail<\/em>, AI is already wreaking havoc in the job market more broadly.\u00a0 He quotes tech entrepreneur Alex Finn:\u00a0 \u201cThe AI layoffs have begun, and they\u2019re not stopping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He reports that Microsoft has laid off 3% of its workforce. Walmart, the nation\u2019s biggest employer, is cutting 1,500 jobs in sales and tech.\u00a0 Proctor &amp; Gamble is slashing 15% of its non-manufacturing jobs.\u00a0 Just to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>Chatbots are taking over jobs in data entry, customer service, report-writing, finance, coding, and more.\u00a0 \u201cEntry-level jobs are vanishing the fastest,\u201d Reinl reports,\u00a0 \u201cstoking fears of recession and a generation of disillusioned graduates left stranded with CVs no one wants.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Slight Gain in Pro-Life Beliefs<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/new-gallup-poll-shows-increase-in-pro-life-sentiment\/?utm_source=recirc-desktop&amp;amp;utm_medium=article&amp;amp;utm_campaign=river&amp;amp;utm_content=in-response&amp;amp;utm_term=first\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Michael New<\/a> reports on a new <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/691370\/gender-gaps-abortion-reach-historic-highs.aspx\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Gallup Poll<\/a> of Americans\u2019 attitudes toward abortion. The percentage of respondents who identified themselves as \u201cpro-life\u201d ticked up two points from last year to 43%.<\/p>\n<p>The bad news is a huge gender gap.\u00a0 From the 1990s through the 2010s, men and women had pretty much the same opinions about abortion.\u00a0 In 2019, more men favored abortion than women.\u00a0 But today, only 41% of men consider themselves \u201cpro-choice,\u201d meaning that a majority of 59% oppose abortion (good news!).\u00a0 But a whopping 61% of women are \u201cpro-choice,\u201d meaning that only 39% oppose abortion (bad news, especially since women are the only ones who are allowed a \u201cchoice\u201d).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/another-gallup-finding-on-abortion\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ramesh Ponnuru<\/a> finds another silver lining in the study.\u00a0 He looks at the alternatives given for the respondents to check.\u00a0 The poll asks, do you believe abortion should be legal\u00a0\u201cin all circumstances,\u201d \u201cin most circumstances,\u201d \u201conly in a few circumstances,\u201d or \u201cillegal in all circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So there are two broadly pro-abortion positions (\u201cin all\u201d and \u201cin most\u201d) and two broadly anti-abortion positions (\u201conly in a few\u201d and \u201cin all\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistorically,\u201d he says, \u201cthe two relatively anti-abortion options have outperformed the two relatively pro-abortion ones.\u201d\u00a0 In 2020, the numbers were 55% to 43% in favor of \u201crelatively anti-abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of Dobbs, the winner switched, with 53% to 45% in favor of \u201crelatively pro-abortion.\u201d\u00a0 These latest numbers, though, show a more even 49% to 48%, still \u201crelatively pro-abortion,\u201d but by a margin of only 1%.\u00a0 Ponnuru thinks this is a trend and that by next year, the percentages will revert closer to the historical figures.<\/p>\n<p>Ponnuru comments that in every year, there are more people in the \u201crelatively anti-abortion\u201d group than there are who identify as \u201cpro-life.\u201d\u00a0 Evidently, many of those who believe in \u201conly a few\u201d abortions describe themselves as \u201cpro-choice,\u201d despite their qualms.<\/p>\n<p>This at least gives pro-lifers something to work with.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Israel&#8217;s new war with Iran.
